Omega Planet Ocean

I've been looking for a used Planet Ocean for a bit. Seems the low end price is about $3300 for the 42 mm size. That just happens to be real close to the price of a new one from Jomashop.

I'm aware the warranty won't be good with Omega if I purchase from Jomashop but are there any other issues that would sway my purchase one way or the other?

Check watchrecon.com for a Planet Ocean. It will direct you to the top watch forums which with the threads of the people who are selling you what you want.

I bought mine 2 years ago for $3300 in MINT condition with box and papers.

I am positive you could get a Planet Ocean for $2800 in used condition or without papers. It really doesnt matter whether or not it has papers with the Planet Ocean 8500 because you can see the movement on the back and see whether or not it is a fake in about 3 seconds (balance wheel needs to be black and has to have two barrels)

If you do have a question on the legitimantcy of the watch you can ask anyone on watchuseek.net and they will tell you. However I have yet to see anyone post a fake on that site and not be caught immediately.

    Best,
    Stefan

I've been looking on Watchfinder, which is a British company, the Planet Oceans on there are starting from £2350 (at time of posting this) ranging between 5-11 years old!

    http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Omega/Watches/All?filterGender=Gents&filterSeries=Planet+Ocean&orderby=PriceLowToHigh

I'm not sure (or could find) if they sell and send overseas, but it could be something you could ask if you find what you're looking for?

    Hope this helps?

I've seen early 2500 po's for under 1900 gbp with Box and papers, if you don't mind orange numbers on the dial they are a bit cheaper. To date the very cheapest po I've seen sold for £588, yes that's five hundred and eighty eighty pounds. Also look abroad at sellers in countries where you have a good exchange rate, this has levelled out due to the Internet but deals can still be found, I bought a few from the US when a pound got me almost 2 dollars. Obviously do your checks on the sellers, reviews etc. And good luck.

Just something to bear in mind, there was a problem with movement in some of the first versions of the PO (CR version) which Omega would put right under the warranty. If you go for an early one, check it has had an Omega service as this would have sorted any potential problem. Mine was done and runs like a dream since, bangs and dents en all.

Thought I’d drop this question here rather than start a new thread - does anybody know a good place to get the rubber strap aside from an Omega dealer?

Ofrei.com is as good a place as any.
