    More boringly,

    aa_old_man_4.jpg

But this (and the male trad outfits) are exceedingly rare, perhaps for a wedding (the only time I've worn a kilt was to one of my daughters' wedding and that was because she insisted) or some sort of dance show. I live to the west of the central belt, and one will see perhaps one in 100,000 men wearing a kilt and even less women wearing trad dress. As you go north that figure increases, but not by much.

I thought the kilt was more common. The bunad has been pretty common for women in the countryside for many years. When I was a kid few men used bunads, but for the last 20-30 years it has become more and more popular, including in the cities. I don't know exactly how common, but very many have them now. I've even seen immigrant women wear it with a hijab! The bunad is worn at weddings, on the national day, babtisms, communists... it can be worn on most occasions where you would wear your best suit or a tux.

A quick Google search shows that half the population has bunads now. I wonder if any other European countries have simmular situation?

Half my neighborhood has rebel flags t-shirts and jorts. That is the micro regional traditional dress of the Appalachian Mountains.

I'm watching the persuaders, its an episode where someone has made a double of Brett, it has Bernard Lee in it also and on the wall of the bad guys apartment is a portrait of Bernard Lee, I'm wondering if this is the same portrait that appeared in the bond films? I'm hoping a Choogle search may provide the answer.

I think it's a different one from the Film.

Thanks TP, Quite bizarre then that Bernard had portraits painted for use in two productions.

From memory the persuades portrait is more from the
Side and lighter in colour. The Bond portrait is darker and
Face on as if he was behind his desk.
Was not old Rog brainwashed to kill in this episode, not a
    Double doing it ?

Yes, I hadn't got to the reveal yet :))
It was also quite strange seeing Bernard so happy to see Sir Roger and embracing him warmly!

Lea Seydoux is one of the actresses who accuse movie producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment. He has clearly used his power and influence in the movie industry to matrett young actresses. X-(

Why is this news? The casting couch has been notorious ever since film was invented. What I am waiting for is a famous actress to come out and say "The only reason I am famous is because I sha**** (insert name of whatever producer it was).
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

In 1921 Fatty Arbuckle was suspected of causing the death of Struggling actress Virginia Rappe, and it has happened ever since, I think this is news as why should women be subjected to it? I have no issue with two consenting adults doing whatever they want for personal gain or gratification, but for that to become the norm is just plain wrong. Many women do use their natural charm and assets to get what that they want from men, but women are not all the same.

I hasten to add that I do not support the abuse of anyone but I just find it bizarre that it suddenly gets a lot of press especially when Hollywood and the Oscar Academy openly laud people like child rapist Roman Polanski (perhaps it's because he is politically correct?).

It's news because a major Hollywood boss has been brought down after harrassing women, and that's good news :)

Meryl Streep is the number one offender. It makes me sick that Woody Allen, Polanski, and many others are protected by peers for what boils down to profit. I am glad people are talking about it but I can't figure out why more people are not up in arms about predators other than Weinstein.

I don't see how Polanski is more politically correct than Weinstein. Please explain.

I think I'll watch The Postman with my sister regardless of the reviews. We are both Jo Nesbø fans and I hear the Norwegian locations did a better job than most....

The point is he is not. It is strange that people will work with him and give him a standing ovation, despite drugging and raping a minor. Now many of the people speaking up against Weinstein actively support Roman.

Polanski is lauded by all the left wing luvvies so it appears that all his misdemeanours can be swept under the carpet whereas right wing actors like Bill Cosby are pilloried. Don't get me wrong they are all scumbags but those left of centre are immune to Hollywood elitists and I'm sick of the hypocrisy of it all.

I don't think it's about the political views of the offenders. Both Weinstein and Cosby comitted sex crimes over many decades, but as far as I know Polanski is a one-time offender. His victim is an adult now who says Polanski should be pardoned.
