Very interesting discussion. Apart from gin being referred to as a "panty remover" (which is what I thought Barbel was referring to when he mentioned the effect it has on him!), I've never thought about the different effects different alcohol has on me. Beer makes me bloated, red wine makes my teeth red and expensive single malts make me poor, but those aside, I can't think of much. Different moods have me craving different drinks - I do like red wine with good food, I do like a lighter beer on a summer's day, G&T is a great one on a very hot day, etc, but no idea about any changes to my personality - or my underwear.
Does what you drink (rather than how much) have any effects?
Definitely. In college I discovered that gin & vodka made me very physical (wanting to climb bloody great trees and buildings and such- my fear of heights melted away), wine made me VERY happy just sitting, but VERY sad the next morning, and beer made me really hungry & want to watch movies.
So I stuck with beer. )
No gig tonight- the drummer is in Naples, the lead guitarist in Paris, the multi-instrumentalist (mandolin, banjo, guitar, vocals) is in Dublin, and the bassist (me) is just back from a week in the Highlands & islands of Scotland. The annoying thing is that we have turned down 4 offers of a gig either last night or tonight since we were on holiday. Oh well, double whisky please!

My husband's grandmother pointed out something similarly on prom night. It was an awkward event. My husband makes sure to point out that I am "imported."particularly since we happen to look a lot alike. Everyone always thinks I'm his sister. Frankly it's off-putting.
