In the Craig films, anyone with unfinished business returns. Why would Madeleine be different? What happened in the Bond films before Craig doesn't count for anything in Craig's universe.

Ahh... UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Madeleine knows who and what Bond is; why would she stick around? Also, she was prepared to leave him in SP, knowing what danger she would be in. Same with Camille.

I am just hoping that EON comes up with the best story/script and does not hog tie themselves by having to "tie up loose ends" that they created in past films. Bond's involvement with Madeleine can be explained away in one short reference if they feel so compelled. "He was had to return to the service, couldn't live without it. She understood this and they moved on". Now get your new PPK (or updated better replacement) and go shoot some super villains and henchmen.

Well with Russia apparently now having invisible nukes and an ex Russian spy dying in the Uk by an unknown substance just in the last few days.

Surely thats a basis of a spy story.

This follows the murder of another Soviet spy on British soil a few years back.

Frederick Forsyth would have a field day.....why don't EON ask him to write a screenplay, I love his novels, all fictional but all grounded in fact....perfect for a Bond film me thinks or not?

There's a good discussion about bringing in Forsyth here: https://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/46871/should-eon-bring-in-frederick-forsyth-for-bond-25/

I keep thinking that the time is right to bring back SMERSH...

Depending on the show's shooting schedule, that would probably take him off the Bond list.
As we start to see our completely unofficial guess list of directors begin to take on new projects....it could mean that EON has made its choice and a director is now on board.
Anthropoid director Sean Ellis and Hell or High Water director David McKenzie (my prediction) appear to have open schedules. Paul McGuigan, who directed Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool is involved in pre-production for a TV show to be filmed in 2019 could be in play and might be considered a "safe" choice. Martin McDonagh, who did Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, is kind of a hot property right now and could be an interesting if offbeat choice. McDonagh, IMO is sort of a British version of the Coen Brothers. I don't know if EON would trust him with Bond.....but it could sure be "interesting".

He will only direct the first episode, so I doubt this makes him unavailable for Bond25.
