The Noah looks good - any help with sizing would be much appreciated - I am a 42" chest but only 5' 9" I take the Med in Royale Harrington for reference and med in the Barbour Beacon both fitme as a good slim fit. I am thinking of going for a Med in the Noah and want to get a similar fit to yours i.e fitted without being too tight. Thanks.

I am a 38/40 chest and i actually had to go for a Small because all Mediums were sold out. As good luck would have it it fits rather well (and I got it is a sale 30% discount). After a wash there was a little shrinkage but just made the fit more svelt and I am Ok with it.
I would say for you Med will be a slim fit but a Large may reduce nicely. As always sizing is a tough call to make as everyone is different. Can always buy both and return the one that does not fit I guess or go to a local store and try for size.

Okay, I've got something fun to tide us over until Eon decides if they want to make #25 or not. :v
For the last year or so, I've been working with Aklasu to create a grenadine tie inspired by Connery's neckwear in Dr. No and FRWL. And I am very happy to announce that the tie is finally ready to go!
We are going to do this as a limited edition tie, with only 45 being made with the extra details. We've gone with a midnight navy grenadine garza grossa silk and used the reverse side of the fabric for more texture. The tie is a 3 fold construction, so it has some heft to it; blade width is 3.125", so it's a pretty timeless style (not super skinny). And everything is handmade in Lake Como, Italy.

Like many here, I'm not a fan of having products overly branded with Bond logos (not to mention the fact that I don't have any rights to using Eon/Bond imagery ). So to identify the tie's source of inspiration, we went with a small, tone-on-tone embroidery on the tipping based on the escutcheon from the Bond family coat of arms. I openly admit that I got the idea for the embroidery from the amazing pins Chriscoop created a while back. Cheers to you, sir! -{

Aklasu wants to launch the tie to the public around the 2nd week of September. But part of the deal for my involvement was that the community here got first crack at it at a special price. When we go public, the tie will retail for around $119.00 U.S. I've worked it out so that there are 5 ties reserved for AJB members priced at $99.00 U.S. plus shipping for the next 10 days. Once those 5 are sold, the price goes up to full retail.
I just want to be clear that I am NOT, in any way, getting any money out of this. I did get a free tie (it was the sample we used and it's the one in the photos in this post). But no cash is coming my way from the tie sales and I'm not being paid as a consultant or anything like that. This is just a passion project for me and I was lucky enough that Aklasu wanted to give it a shot.

To wrap this up, I will say that I am really happy with the tie I received. It's a little heavier and stiffer than I thought it would be, but (for me) the color, the texture of the fabric, and the width are all exactly what I was looking for in a gren tie. Plus, it created a damn near perfect dimple right away. Working with Aklasu has honestly been a pleasure. They are really excited about the project and hearing feedback from the Bond fans.
Hopefully, if this goes well, we can develop other projects for some Bond-inspired neckwear!

That tie looks great, although it looks a good bit wider than Connery’s early ties. Closer to his ties in Diamonds. And I wouldn’t worry about the stiffness; in my experience with grenadines, the stiffness fades with regular wear. If I didn’t already have so many grenadine ties from Sam Hober, I’d probably jump onboard.

Thanks! Yes, the width is one thing I thought hard about. Since this started as a search for a tie I wanted personally, I made in the decision (in consultation with Aklasu) to go with something a little wider than Connery's from the films so it wouldn't date quickly and would work with a variety of collar styles and lapel widths. Making the blade just a hair over 3" and then going thinner towards the middle so the knot wasn't too bulky seemed like a good compromise. In other words, wider than the ties Connery wore in the early 60s, but not nearly as wide as some of those seen in the 70s Bond films. It's actually almost exactly the same width as some of my classic Hermes ties (which I love!).
I understand what you're saying about the stiffness. My other grens also softened up with use. Honestly, I just wasn't expecting the 3 fold construction (another feature I really wanted) to make a noticeable difference. But I like the weight. It's not a bulky tie at all, but it definitely has some heft!

I've had a couple of people asking about the width of the tie. I know it can be difficult to determine width without some kind of comparison so I put together some photos showing the Orbis Tie with some other ties I have. In the photos, from bottom to top: Fendi, the Orbis Tie, Hermes, Turnbull & Asser, Zegna, Kiton and Tom Ford.
The Fendi is the narrowest tie I have, just a shade under 3"
The Orbis tie measures at 3.2" and is almost the same width as the Hermes.
The widest tie I have is an older Tom Ford at 3.75"
So the Orbis Tie is definitely not super skinny. But it's not a wide monster either. For me (and this is just personal preference), a tie blade between 3.0" and 3.4" is the sweet spot. Hope that helps!
Just got back from the UK to visit Mum and Next has a great harrington jacket in stock right now. I got one and can sat the quality is excellent, even has the traditional tartan taking me back to my Ska days in Coventry.
