Actually, thanks to IG member MrOpinion007, what i thought was the AK variant Mini Draco is actually (with almost certainty) a VZ-58
This lines up with what ppw3o6r said on another thread here, it being a VZ 58. I had been trying to identify this gun myself, thinking it was some kind of AK, but I am no expert, so didn't get very far past that )

The block of "2 by 4" was in fact a cut down bolt action Accuracy International Accuracy Inforcement rifle housed inside a steel casing which was able to transform and yet still be able to cycle rounds. It was & is a very clever piece of kit. No way it would fool customs into thinking it was the frame of a case as was its concept but Sam Mendes was extremely happy with it at the pre-production show & tell -{

I like the sig very much. But I rate the P99 somewhat higher. The P99 is just perfect for James Bond. Decocker location and flush with the slide. Trigger, ergonomics, size, no Hammer. With some creativity it can be carried with any clothing, even in summer attire
I love the P99, but the VP9 is like an upgraded version of it. Nothing beats the P99’s trigger though, not even the SRT
I had not noticed the blunders by Bond in the train/sig scene. I like some things from Spectre a lot, but some others I dislike very much. I would not condemn the movie in general, just not on the top of my list.
The VP9 has very good looks, the thing is, it is not DA/SA like the P99, and,-- not being an expert, I just can speak teoretically-- but I think DA is safer, specially if Bond had to avoid using a holster for some reason, since he has to go to countries where he should be armed and is enemy territory for him. Holster would be a nag. And a soft trigger as the one in the Glocks and the VP9 would be a risk without a holster.
It is also my humble opinion that the PPK is a back up gun, never a primary.

I had forgotten all about the P226, or 900 PIST SIG, as it is known in Finnish armed forces.
It is a nice gun, but of all the service pistols in Finland I have shot, this is the one that I am most ambivalent about. We had some reliability issues with it, traced back to the ammo used. It has a pronounced muzzle flip because of the high bore axis and I have hard time getting a good grip on it, so fast follow ups require more concentration than with the other 3.
It is a solid choice, a very accurate and very well made gun, but for me…. not my first choice. My heart belongs to combat Tupperware or solid steel! These being G17 and P99 which are the current service pistols and the now obsolete FN HP DA or 900 PIST 80/91, which, while not a fan favourite in the forces by any stretch of the imagination, I feel very nostalgic about.

This is usual with BC. I ordered their first products in 2011 and it was a travesty from start to finish. I thought they might have improved in 2015 and had a major customer service fail with them then too, someth8ng to this very day hasn’t been sorted out. Even if they offer up my holy grail item on a plate for a bonkers price, I won’t give them a penny of my money.
I had the chance to do so today and I have to admit, it really is alot of fun! Definitely an up close and personal weapon. I also blued the slide to look a little less aged but with "mission" wear.
I'm currently debating what type of tape to use when I remove the grip panels. Something along the lines of hockey stick or baseball bat grip tape? I haven't the slightest idea what Bond would have used
The same tape that would have been used on Cricket Bat handles back in the day when the best bats were made of willow. It's like the modern day gaffer tape.

Gaffer tape isn’t the right stuff, like you said Ray, hockey tape is as close as you’ll get.
An FYI for you guys removing the grips from your Beretta pistols and wrapping the handles with “cricket tape” ...
Without the OEM grip panel to hold the trigger bar flat and properly engaged with the sear, the trigger bar can slip off the sear. Shooting this model pistol without the handles is very unsafe. There is also the possibility that the sear could be moved without pulling the trigger. If the trigger bar is disconnected from the sear, the safety will not function.
While the “skeleton grip” sounds dramatic and sinister, it is a stupid modification that belongs in a thriller and not on a functional handgun. Remember Bond filed his firing pin to a sharp point and filed off the front sight ... sounds cool and custom, but proves IF’s formidable talents did not include gunsmithing.
Beware of tape made for sports equipment. Don’t ask how I know, but it can have serious corrosive properties and will eat away the frame of your pistol. If you want to use this type of tape it would be best to first apply some nylon electrical tape then carefully apply the “cricket tape” to the grip, making sure it is not contacting the steel. I don’t know if aluminum frames would be similarly affected.
