President George Bush senior has past away. I have respect for him. He was a real conservative, back when the meaning of conservative was valuing tradition and gradual change based on experience and facts. He was a WWII veteran and a competent president.

@Silhouette Man, Yes Al Matthews played the US Air Force MSgt. who instructs Bond in the HALO jump in TND. It is shame that both he and Ricky Jay died this year.

As a comic book reader, Stan Lee's death this year was really sad. I started reading Spider-Man in the late 1990's and it has quickly become one of my favorite comic books along with Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was an amazing storyteller and he was never shy about addressing major social issues in his comic books( Iron Man being an Alcoholic for example). Always loved his cameo's in the movie adaptations of his works and his interviews on television. Without him, I am not sure that comic books as whole would have the popularity in mainstream society that they have.

Penny Marshall has died at 75. She was part of my childhood as Laverne in Laverne & Shirley, and then she went on to a fine career as a film director, giving us such classics as Big and A League of Their Own. RIP.

Thank you for that confirmation, PPK 7.65mm. I Googled him and found out that's who it was. Thought it must've been him. As you say, it's sad we've lost two actors from TND this year. :#

Michel Legrande has died in Paris, just a month short of his 87th birthday. He did the score to Never Say Never Again, which--TBH--is far from his best work; better to remember The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and the original Thomas Crown Affair.

Legrand was one of the greats of film music. Summer of '42 is another of his most famous works for "The Summer Knows". And an incredible jazz pianist too. He will be missed.

Albert Finney has passed away at the age of 82. Of course, many people here will associate him with Skyfall, but he was a truly great actor, one who helped define the "kitchen sink" genre of '60s British films and who put in one fine performance after another. RIP.

He was particularly memorable in Murder on the orient express and Annie. Loved him in Skyfall also, and I think he was in the Bourne films.

    The late great Gadget Meisters!

Very sad indeed, I remember reading an interview with him in Goldeneye Magazine (the magazine of the Ian Fleming Foundation) prior to the opening of Tomorrow Never Dies, he sounded like he was quite talented. Especially when it came to bringing Q's gadgets to life.

Bruno Ganz was an excellent actor--and a surprising (yet brilliant) choice for Hitler, considering his avuncular appearance and performances. He will be missed.

Gargled and spat water over me at a gig in 96 (I think) at the Brixton Academy in my college days. It was nuts and I remember the fake floor they installed broke during Firestarter when the place went apeshit :))
