Though of course they could just be exaggerating and pleasing everybody since they were actually there!!

Good point. Maybe Felix comes knocking because he is on a mission in Jamaica (or a nearby island called Crab Key!).

This Swedish article says Dencik is playing a villain and he will be filming in Jamaica soon.

If the scene shot in Norway really is Madeleine, I think the contrast between Jamaica and the icy landscape in the flashback will be interesting. Perhaps Madeline is swimming in the tropical waters of Jamaica triggers the childhood memory? It seems like the scene shot in Norway has at least as much action as the CR PTS. The flashback ends with her as a girl swiming back towards the hole in the ice. We cut back to the adult Madeleine breaking the surface back in Jamaica, out of breath from the disturbing memory. She wades back on land where Felix' car is arriving. They say hallo and Felic tells Bond: "James, we need you again …"
    Cue the title sequence.

Maybe Leiter goes there for Madeleine? Her history with Spectre might be what Leiter needs. Maybe the first half of the film is bringing Madeleine's story to an end and killing her off. The PTS might set up that link to justify Leiter going to see Madeleine in Jamaica.

Some have assumed there will be no Russian character in the film based upon the cast, but Dencik is capable of playing pretty much any nationality and the accent to go along. In McMafia he actually played a Russian gangster.

I think the article was published by a regional newspaper yesterday.

The character's name is Waldo. He's a very important character, according to Barbara Broccoli. Dencik will fly to Jamaica next week to prepare for the shoot. He'll work on the movie for ten weeks. "I don't quite know what I'm going to do, but i think there will be some action scenes. They don't tell me much. It's like working for MI6 for real, everything is secret", says Dencik.

He has screentested for Bond movies before without succeding. This time he was asked to be in the film.
"It's an honour to be in it", says Danick.

The Bond25 cast reveal would appear to suggest that the film's plot is going to use material from the early Spectre drafts, leaked in the Sony email hack, and posted on here by the user Marketto007. Using this Sony hack information, the Bond25 synopsis and other Bond25 facts we know of, I think I can piece together how Bond25 may unfold.

    The Bond25 synopsis is:
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica.
His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.
The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

We know that the Bond25 PTS, because of a photographed clapperboard, was filmed in Norway. That filming shows a young girl, which the casting for called for a Madeleine look-a-like, running from a masked gunmen, using a weapon used by Spectre. There is a Scandinavian villa and a young girl in an early version of Spectre’s script according to the leaked Sony emails. We now know that Rami Malek has done some Norway filming, so we know his character has a link to Madeleine.

The synopsis tells us Leiter 'turns up asking for help,' but help from Bond or Madeleine? I think it is Madeleine. The Sony hack emails also said that the CIA was working with Blofeld. But, now Blofeld is captured by the British, is that formally working with Blofeld or has Spectre infiltrated CIA, or both? I think Leiter goes to see Madeleine for help, maybe because the CIA think that she knows something that can help an ongoing investigation, probably into Malek and his dangerous new technology.

As Bond will go on this mission, one can only assume Madeleine goes with him. In Casino, Bond worked with Vesper and Mathis at the same time, so I am not discouraged by the fact that there would be three of them. Phoebe Waller-Bridge dialogue here might be good for Leiter teasing Bond about being in a long term relationship.

In the early Spectre drafts there is a CIA agent called Charlotte who Bond worked with and who turns out to be a villain. I'm not expecting Leiter to be a villain. In the Sony emails, Bond and Charlotte pretend to be man and wife. Could Bond be accompanied by Madeleine, using their wedding in Italy as cover, with Leiter as best man? Instead of a Charlotte, maybe it is a Charlie, as we know Bond25 has Billy Magnussen as a CIA agent and he may betray Bond, Madeleine and Leiter, as the synopsis tells us that the mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected. Ana de Armas might be the Spectre link between Magnussen and Malek.

I think the kidnapped scientist is Q as the early Spectre drafts have Q taken hostage. This would be where Bond, Leiter and Madeleine cross paths with the rumoured new 007, possibly played by Lashana Lynch, and maybe Moneypenny, who might be back out in the field; as the Sony emails also revealed that Leiter meets Moneypenny. The early Spectre drafts also had Moneypenny injured which could be an outcome of this rescue mission that goes wrong.

The rescue mission that gets Moneypenny injured maybe in an African diamond mine. We know that Rami Malek is the villain and we also know that Algerian/French actor Dali Bensallah will be involved, giving the cast a North African feel. In those early Spectre drafts, a diamond mine in Africa was part of the plot. An early Spectre draft also had Bond and Q escape a mine collapse.

The fall out from the rescue mission could be a plot angle described in the Sony emails that “allies," the CIA and MI6, "are being picked apart creating paranoia and suspicion". In the hacked emails, the Sony execs also asked, “Is it just about avenging the deaths of people from prior movies who were close to him?” If Madeleine is killed at some point during Bond25 then the same question could be asked of Bond25. Maybe the death of Madeleine during the diamond mine Q rescue attempt is the blood sacrifice for saving Q?

At this point, I think I have covered all the likely connections between the Sony hacks, the synopsis and other facts we know. I am speculating then without any evidence that the film's third act is Bond, Leiter and the new 007, taking Q back to the UK so they can tell the UK govt about Magnussen's treachery on behalf of the imprisoned Blofeld and that they have learnt that Malek is going to try and release Blofeld with his dangerous new technology; and Bond wants revenge for Madeleine.

Fukunaga said at the Live Reveal they would be filming in London and I wonder if that will be my Blofeld jailbreak theory, and Lynch-007 is killed in the jailbreak finale, while maybe Blofeld has an ambiguous escape a la Diamonds are Forever; but right at the end of the movie, Bond returns to MI6 and is reinstated as 007.

How about this, instead of Lynch-007 killed in the finale, Craig-Bond is killed in the finale. When Bond 26 comes out Lynch will continue in the role of 007. Has her name in Bond 25 been revealed yet?

The name is Walker by the way.

Good research. it's a dirty job, but Someone had to do it.
I have couple of questions for you (both in the singular and plural meaning of you):
I knew Malek's stuntman was spotted on location in Norway, but was Malek himself seen?

Do you agree the female 007 (if that's true) has to die or at least retire before the credits roll?

What kind of technology do you think the midding scientist is working on?

I heard Fukunaga say during the Live Reveal that Malek has filmed Norway scenes. - edit - sorry this is wrong.

This is where I saw the reference to Malek having filmed Norway scenes. Lizo is a BBC journalist.

Lynch-007 could die, or be injured badly enough she can't carry on. Then again, as another poster has said, maybe Bond will die.

I have no idea what the dangerous tech is. Someone on abj007 suggested eco-terrorism. It needs to be something actually dangerous and not Nine Eyes.

Thanks. "Done some Norway stuff" doesn't have to mean he has been filmed in Norway. His stuntman was seen on to insert him into the scene on the lake? Anyway, it interesting to know he's part of the winter scene.

I think letting Bond die and having the female 007 survive would be a disaster. People would write "feminism gone mad!" with Caps Lock on and too many exclamation points, and I would agree. She has to die or retire, anything else will make people belive the 007 in the post-Craig movies will be a woman.

Eco-terrorism isn't form of technology, is it? I would prefer some type of weapon of mass destruction. Other poibilties are a very profitable and game-changeing technolgy (perhaps within energy) or perhaps some high-tech assassination method. I don't want a third Bond film in a row about hacking and surveilance.

Well maybe this rumored female MI6 agent will simply not have the 007 number......could be 0010, 0011 or whatever. Maybe not even a "00". Maybe an agent with only one kill......and she gets a boatload of knowledge and experience from Bond and ironically earns her "00" killing someone to save Bond. Remember, from what we know it appears that Felix asks Bond to help him...so it might not really be an MI6 mission. M may (possibly against his own better judgement) lend Felix and Bond the young agent to help.

That would be a good solution.
I don't wan ta woman to hold the 007 designation when the credits roll, but I don't want people to get the idea that women can't be 00- agents either.

Yes, I have no problem with a good portrayal of a strong young female MI6 agent who can kick butt...just don't want any mixed messages about who James Bond is and that code name crap rearing its ugly head.

The code name thing is about ‘James Bond’; ‘007’ is his job title essentially- it always seemed likely someone else could get the number. I don’t see the issue. We’ve never had anyone else be 007 so it’d be a new thing- new things are good.
Will it happen? I’ve no idea, but it would kind of make sense to see that in this film where Bond has left his job.

Mind you, someone upthread said it might be nice if Bond was actually on deep cover and I rather like that- it’s be fun if we the audience don’t know what he’s up to for once and we get the rug pulled from under us in the second act. Kind of like an extended You Only Live Twice opening I guess, butbitd be good if wevthought this new woman was 007, only it turns out he’s been 007 all along and was playing at being a sleeping lion to lure in the baddie.

I can live with another agent having the 007 designation for parts of the film. I'd prefer it if his replacement had another number, since I doubt all nine numbers are taken all the time. But it's James Bond's job title.like you say. To me it makes no difference if it's a man or a woman, what matters is that James Bond is 007 when the credits roll. If someone else is 007 at the end people will asume that person will be the lead of future Movies in the franchise and that can't be good.

Yeah it’s interesting: although it’s Craig’s last (maybe- althoughbif Cruise can keep going why can’t he? And Ant Man is only two films in despite being about the same age) it surely won’t be the last Bond film, so I kind of don’t see them ending his run with Bond ending, if you see what I mean. Bond will return, so I doubt they would want to leave the moviegoers with a line drawn under him completely. So yeah, I’d expect him to be 007 again at some point most probably.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,709MI6 Agent
I won't be upset if Bond25 has an open ending (did Bond die or did he survive?)
Fleming did it. What I would hate is if Bond clearly dies or someone else is 007 at the end of the movie. That would open up the floodgates for the codename theory, a female Bond and all sorts of mess.

And then a reboot in the next movie with a new Bond and the cliffhanger ignored? That’s quite a fun idea, yeah.

I think him dying might be a bit too far: you’ve got quite a leap there in the next film. But the 007 thing I don’t think has to be an issue- you can just not mention it (after all, he ended the last film not being 007 and no one really noticed) whereas if you do a big ‘handover of the number’ scene it would be a bit confusing and leave people not sure what’s coming next. Did anyone see the last episode in the most recent series of Star Trek Discovery? You’ll know what I mean! :)
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,709MI6 Agent
If Bond25 ends with a cliffhanger (dead/not dead) tehy can ignore it, but I'd prefer it if it was acknowledged in some way. Nothing big, perhaps just a comment from M or Moneypenny that it was a call after the last mission.

Barbara Broccoli rather forcefully slammed the door on a female Bond in an interview yesterday. She even used the word “gimmick”, which is accurate. So I think we can finally dispense with that here (although I’m sure the media and the twitterverse will persist).

Whether Bond is “007” at all in this film doesn’t matter since Craig’s Bond is so well-established at this point.

Craig's Bond is well established now. That's not the point. I'm thinking of the next James Bond actor and the whole franchise.

you folks who keep saying you don't want a woman to hold the 007 number … are you saying it'd be OK if a man inherited the number? why do you keep attaching gender to this issue?

within the narrative … it's just a number, and if Bond has quit, they reassign it to someone else. And I guarantee CraigBond has no sentimental attachment to his employee number: he's the "do I look like I give a damn" Bond. I think it'd make a very good story if CraigBond had to meet the new agent who'd taken over his old number.

outside the narrative, in our world as filmgoers, there's no way they can market a new film with a new character holding the classic number. I mean presuming this new character is expected to go on to headline future films.
For starters the next film by definition wouldn't be Bond26. it'd be Somebody Else is Agent 007 Episode 1 and why would anybody care about the adventures of Somebody Else is Agent 007?

as to the question of does he die in the last scene … a year ago there were rumours the film would copy Logan, where Wolverine finally dies but only after passing the mantle to his pintsized daughter who has the same mutant superpowers. Now the rumour is Bond will be mentoring a younger female double oh agent … that sure looks similar so far …
and the idea that part of this shall take place in Jamaica … could simply be a nice tribute to Fleming to mark the 25th film. It could also be the series coming full circle, and concluding geographically where it all began.

Bond indeed wouldn’t give a damn about his number, but I can also see him being a bit annoyed by people (like Moneypenny or Q) trying gleefully to get a rise out of him by mentioning the new 007 etc to his face. So there’s a potential for some laughs or even a bit of a drama there, which makes it worth doing.
They might not leave the film with someone else as 007, and I definitely don’t see them attempting a new series with a non-Bond 007, but I can easily imagine them promoting this one with the ‘meet the new 007!’ headlines, and why not? It’s all good promotion. I think it’s a fun idea.

I wouldn't want anyone, woman or man except James Bond officially having the 007 number. That being said, it could be another source of humor and done in a way not to really offend many fans sensibilities. Let's say the female MI6 agent is not quite yet a "00" but one kill away. Money Penny could tease Bond "You know she's just one kill away from earning her "00"and I hear M is seriously considering giving her your old number". Bond could respond ala CR "I don't really give a s..t but I'll bloody shoot her if she tries to take the DB5".
  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,686MI6 Agent
I think being offended by it would be a bit silly: it already happened in a book last year and no one minded then. Having it as a threat is a bit half-hearted: much better just to do it I think.
But the story might not be going that way at all. Having a new, younger British cast member raises the possibility that they might, but is no confirmation at all of course.
