actually I got a ...Golden Gun niggle.
What if Bond had parked the plane on the other side of the building?

Scaramanga leads Bond to the giant laser gun: "now I am truly the man, with the golden gun!", presses button, window opens, beach is empty. "wait, didn't you park your plane...?"
Bond: "oh I chose the other side, I wanted to park it out of the sun, you know how steering wheels get in the hot sun"
Scaramanga only has one minion who has to mind the bubbling vats, and NickNack: "NickNack, oh NickNack!" "yes boss?" "NickNack, I need you to disassemble the giant laser gun and move the pieces and reassemble it on the other side of the building"
NickNack: "you mean now, boss, I was just about to start my lunchbreak!"
Scaramanga: "yes now, NickNack. You can take your lunchbreak later.
Ah, Mr Bond, so sorry about the delay. You know, I have a very comfortable waiting room with an excellent supply of magazines, I can call you once NickNack has the giant laser gun reassembled".

(two hours later, on the other side of the building)
Scaramanga "...and now , I truly am, the man, with the golden gun!", presses button, window opens, this beach is empty too.
Bond: "oh, I'm sorry, I could see the sun was moving over the building because it was lunch hour, so I took advantage of the break to move my plane so itd be in the shade for the afternoon. You were saying?"

Also as this might have escaped the attention of some, But films are a Visual medium.
So strong Visuals are more important, than a mundane reality. ;) I enjoy Bond's Trip
to the Island, the aerial shots as he circles the Island I find wonderful, as always only
    my opinion.

I think the quality of the recent niggles is going down. That wasn't a very good niggle, and I'm sure the previous niggle about Tatiana's plan to steal the Lektor has been dealt with before. Perhaps we have finally resolved every last plot-hole in the 24 Bond films?
I didn't say it was a good niggle, but it was my niggle.

The inevitability of time, I trust?

I also think that perhaps this thread has run its course, until the next movie at least :)

I think it should be left open, for the moment at least, unless more members want it closed.

I was just joking, I like this thread. Please leave it open.
It gives us a chance to test our understanding of the films (FRWL is one of the more complicated plots), and is an excuse to make up clever explanations for genuine plot-holes.

I know Thunderpussy says he doesn't like it because he loves all 24 films like they were his own children and by definition there are no niggles, but look at this page alone, he contributes to this thread almost as much as Firemass and Punker!

We have to defend our children. ;) ...... especially from some who....
Obviously haven't watched the film, misheard some dialogue, or try and put
their own interpretation on something that's "Bleeding obvious" to the rest of
Us :)) Although I get the message and will leave the Naysayers to their own
devices. let you guys wallow in your negativity.
Honestly these films are very easy to follow, perhaps when you've watched
them a few hundred times each, you can reach " enlightenment" and become
True Believers :D Namaste, peace and love to all. :x

:)) Back in 83 I did enjoy watching it on the big screen, basically because of seeing Sir Sean playing 007 one last time. Its flaws have become more apparent to me over the years, and I now prefer OP.

its not about saying the film is bad, its about having questions.
The teacher always said "if you don't understand something, ask, because there will always be ten other kids in the class with the same question who are afraid to ask".

Firemass's question about Tatiana I'm sure was a repeat, but FRWL is one of the more confusing films, so probably there's ten new kids in the AJB class who missed the answer the first time.
And Punker's question about the guy in the boat I would never have guessed could possibly be a question, but Punker had it so there's also ten other students who've been wondering the same thing and deserve to learn the answer.
I say keep the Little Niggles coming!

While I agree that FRWL is more confusing than most Bond films, I've never had any trouble following the plot (possibly because I read the book first).

In retrospect it would have been nice if this thread had a similar format to the Pros & Cons threads like Little Niggles & Little Delights, because for every 1 niggle there are at least 10 minor details that I love. On serious repeat viewings like we do, it's fun to go over the films with a fine tooth comb and the amount of detail packed into the Bond films gives them almost infinite replay value.

In a few rare cases there are certain bits of commentary tracks, trivia or deleted scenes that I wish I could unlearn or unsee, because I was happier not knowing. So I can understand someone like Thunderpussy getting upset at the nitpicking. However, I certainly wasn't trying to offend any other Bond fans here. To me, it was all in good fun and certainly didn't diminish my enjoyment of the films. If anything, finding little faults and the ensuing fan explanations made me love the films even more.

Here's a Die Another Day niggle which confuses me (never takes much):
After Bond is given back by the North Koreans and escapes from MI6's boat, he checks into the hotel managed by Chang, the Chinese intelligence agent. Peaceful Fountains of Desire, the masseuse, visits him in his room. It turns out that Bond's room is being filmed by Chang and a couple of his colleagues, presumably to catch Bond having hanky-panky with the masseuse and then blackmail/exploit him later, as in From Russia with Love. However, when Bond starts touching the masseuse, she says "I'm not that kind of masseuse", and implies she is there to give Bond a genuine massage. if this is indeed the case, then what are the Chinese agents hoping to catch on film? A man in a hotel room getting a massage from a masseuse doesn't seem so bad, so is it a bit of a plot inconsistency or am I missing something?

Surely filming bond would be a matter of course, they who he is he had his usual suite, who knows who he may talk to on the phone.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

Not a niggle as it doesnt irritate me in the least. But while watching avtak recently I still had a chuckle at the part where Mayday pushes the Rolls Royce into the lake, where it floats out maybe 50feet, bond then escapes and uses the air in the tyre to breath, but he is looking almost straight up at Zorin and Mayday on the shore.

I think you got it exactly. The only point is to reference From Russia With Love. The movie is supposed to contain at least one reference to each of the previous 19 films, and most of them are very forced. This one is so forced it shatters any illusion there is a story going on, it suggests (three scenes in) that the entire film is only a sequence of forced self-referential images.

In this movie I am more surprised when something actually does make narrative sense
(e.g. it took me several viewings to get there is actually a plot-thread with Miranda Frost that begins in the pre-credits sequence. That could have been a good story if telling a good story was the purpose of this film. )

Which it isn't and it's quite sad, as they wasted what mighta/coulda/shoulda been a solid movie.

Finding it hard to follow Die another Day ? I'm guessing you guys avoid Inception and the Back to the future movies :))

I've never quite understood how or why Paris Carver shows up in Bond's hotel room?

It's a long time since I saw the film or read the novelisation, but I seem to recall in Gardner's adaptation he explained Paris was sent there by her husband. I may be wrong, or it might be wishful thinking. Either way, Paris is clearly still in love with Bond and he's managed to rekindle the fire. I do agree however that this is one of those scenes not properly explained. Like TB another (for me) supreme example of Bondage sometimes it's easier just to go with the flow.
