Interesting. It would definitely be exiting to see in the future how they will pull this off.

One of the things all the Bond actors has had in common is a very good voice, in particular Connery, Moore, Dalton and Craig in my opinion. I know Moore and Dalton has done a lot of voice acting. From what I've heard in interviews Aidan Turner is the one of the candidates we often mentioned who has a voice compareable to them. If we compare his speaking voice to a man like Charlie Hunnam he sounds much better. What do you think?

Thanks. I saw that over the weekend. Seems highly improbable to me.

Good enough actor but not on my list. Norton is tall but I find him unconvincing in any action...just doesn't move very well. One of those guys who looks the part in a still photo with a tux on but as soon as he starts moving he's just another tall, pretty face in a tux.

What? You mean The Sun isn't a beacon of light and truth?

I've liked Norton fine in the movies and films I've seen him in, but he hasn't jumped off the screen in a way that makes me think, "He's going to be a superstar."

To be fair, if I could predict these things, I would be a highly paid casting director in Hollywood and not a guy who watches movies in his underwear on his couch.

But I can think of other actors who I saw in something obscure and recognized their as yet untapped star quality. Florence Pugh was one. It was more than her pretty face. I watched The Little Drummer Girl and said, "She's got it — whatever it is." And now she's nominated for an Oscar.

Craig himself was another. He doesn't have a lot to do in Munich but he made an impression on me. And we all know about Layer Cake.

I think James Norton simply doesn't look though enough. On paper he is a good candidate, but I don't think he's the right one.

Did anyone watch the three-part Dracula serial with the Danish actor Claes Bang playing the Count? At 52 years old he’s not in the running, but he imbues the Dracula role with a very Pierce Brosnan-esque vibe, and definitely looks the part (apart from the fangs, that is :D ).

Have you seen him in Happy Valley?

No, I haven't followed that series. I've mainly seen him in in War & Peace and Granchester, and photos on the internet. Just saw a couple of clips and he does look more convincing. Norton is now higher up on my list of possible Bonds, but he's still not in the top five.

So I understand. He describes his character as a psycopath.

I am really starting to warm to the thought of Nicholas Hoult. I see he has been cast in the new Mission Impossible film. That may help his cause depending on the role

Yes I actually feel he might be possible too. Not seen him in that sort of role quite yet though so I don't know fully if he can.

I definitely think the next Bond won't necessarily be in the classical 'white, handsome, big chinned, dark-haired' mould of Connery/Dalton/Lazenby/Rock Hudson/James Garner- Craig has changed that. Someone else actually suggested Cillian Murphy because of his screen presence in Peaky Blinders, and although I don't think they'd go for him, I do think his slightly odder looks would be less important than his charisma to the producers.

I predict Henry Golding will be the next, first non-Anglo, James Bond 007.

If by "Anglo" you mean of the English people, he counts. He's half-English. While Moore and Craig are the most Anglo Bonds being the only Bonds from England, Lazenby and Dalton are English names and likely have some Anglo ancestry. And the Anglo-Saxons and modern English people invaded or migrated to many places throughout the British Isles, so it's likely there's English blood in Connery and Brosnan too. Golding is possibly more Anglo than some of the other Bond actors being half English.

I think Henry Golding is worth considering, but to my eyes he looks too slick and modelish. I suspect I would have problems telling him apart from a large number of male east Asian models. Has he impressed as an actor?

That's primarily what I know Norton from. I actually like that show and I like Norton in it but that's where I came to my opinion that he's not Bond material. Norton just does not move well. He's tall and fit but too wide in the hips and narrow in the shoulders....not a good look for Bond IMO.

He's a very wooden actor but could look the part.

I never would have thought this before his role on Mission Impossible... but I can now see Henry Cavil play Bond. There was another actor I always thought could make a good bond as well, but I don't know his name: he played the MI6 officer in NCIS a couple years ago.

Duane Henry. I agree that he would’ve been great, but unfortunately he’ll be a bit too old by B26.

Too old? If it is released in 5 years, he'll only be 40. That's enough for a few films still. And if he is as lucky as Tom Cruise, who knows how long he can still go. I still can't believe Cruise is almost 60 with what he does in Mission Impossible.

I saw an interview with Henry Cavill in Yahoo!news this morning, which turned out to be originally from Esquire magazine, I don't think its been mentioned here yet ...
    he discusses those Bond rumours
    Yahoo!News link
    Esquire link
Henry Cavill Finally Addressed Those James Bond Rumours

With the 25th Bond Film, No Time to Die, set for release in April this year, it's the last time we'll see Daniel Craig behind the wheel of the famous Aston Martin.

No Time to Die will be Craig's fifth and final outing as the agent with the double-O status, which has led to many (read: millions) of fans to speculate as to who will fill Bond's Crockett & Jones Oxfords next. One of the most popular predictions? Henry Cavill.

It's not exactly a surprising prediction. Cavill ticks all the boxes — young, British, in great physical condition and at the right point in his career to catapult himself into an iconic role. But there's one big hurdle, as Cavill addressed in a recent interview with Men's Health.

The Hollywood Reporter claimed in 2018 that Superman would be recast, following the somewhat disappointing reception and returns of Batman v Superman and Justice League, relative to Marvel’s Avengers films. Confirmation that co-star Ben Affleck would be superseded as the Dark Knight by Robert Pattinson has also been widely interpreted as kryptonite for Cavill. So, will he play Superman again?

“I can’t tell you anything concrete there,” said Cavill. “But what I can tell you is that, in reference to me, 99 per cent of what you’re reading on the internet probably isn’t right. I can’t say anything, obviously. But I very much love the character, and I am very much not walking away from it.”

The last time 007’s dinner jacket was vacated, ahead of 2006’s Casino Royale, a 22-year-old Cavill reportedly finished runner-up in the casting process, his youth cited (and, according to the casting directors, weight) as a reason for his eventual rejection. But Cavill now has age on his side (at 36, he is a year younger than Craig when he was cast), he’s well versed in fronting tent-pole movies, and he may have a Superman-sized gap in his schedule.

“With the whole Bond process, I screen-tested many, many moons ago and it was, as far as I know, down to Daniel and myself – maybe one other,” says Cavill. “I think Daniel – sorry, Mr Craig – has done an incredible job of being Bond. And if it is indeed his last one, then the playing field is open. There are no conversations just yet, but we’ll see what happens. It would be a great, fun role to play.”

He has cursed himself mentioning it :))

I think he is also too obvious and we will get a surprise casting.

I also think he looks awkward as hell in a suit as too big

I was watching an interview with Cavill the other day, and I have changed my mind on his suitability for Bond. He had a charm that I had never seen before. Maybe he has trouble channeling that as an actor, as he's been wooden in all of the many things I've seen him in, but he has it in him to play Bond. But that doesn't matter because he'll never get the role anyway.

IMO, Cavill comes off much less wooden when he's speaking in his natural accent. Cavill has portrayed so many Americans, it's easy to forget he's British. As far as Cavill looking too big in a suite, I would imagine he would go for a much leaner, less bulky look in his training for Bond than Superman. I agree he has it in him to play Bond also......but I doubt he will be cast also. IMO, EON will go with a fresh, new face......someone not as well known and if they click in their first Bond film and it's a success, they can sign for a multi picture deal.

OK, so we just started watching LUCIFER Season 5. Tom Ellis has really, really bulked up his physique since the show began. Seriously, look at how he is in S5 compared to S1 and it's a pretty amazing body transformation.

He's only 41. I suspect that he may be vying for Bond after Craig because he's a very young looking 41 and he's got a build now to rival Craig's in CR. Even if he's not going after the role of Bond, I bet he's thinking of his post LUCIFER career and going for something in one of the bigger franchises (like a Marvel movie, maybe), but honestly...I think he'd make for a great Bond.

I agree Ellis could be a very good Bond. Build wise, he's not Craig in CR but Ellis is 6'3" and has a totally different body type than Craig.
If Ellis was bulked up like Craig in CR, he'd look bad in suites (think of what American Pro football players look like in suites). That being said, IMO, Ellis looks to be in superb shape and quite formidable. Ellis, also (as he displays in Lucifer) has that "devilish" quality :)) that would work very well for Bond. But alas, Ellis will turn 42 this fall and given that the next Bond will probably not go into production for at least another four years, I don't believe EON will pick a 46 year old for Bond.
