Bond Haiku

There's a guy who writes an online column about professional American football who has a fun habit of making his points in haiku, the Japanese verse featuring lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables. I thought it might be fun to do the same thing with Bond, especially since Ian Fleming's title for YOLT supposedly was inspired by an old Japanese hiaku.

So, with apologies to serious haiku-ists, here is my chronology of the EON series (which includes numerous personal opinions of mine). Feel free to respond in kind... :)

1962:
Bond comes to the silver screen.
I love Dr. No!

Red Grant, Rosa Klebb,
Unseen Blofeld, Kerim Bey –
From Russia With Love.

After all these years,
Goldfinger still stands as the
Blueprint for the films.

“Bondmania” rules!
And the women – ooh la la!
Must be Thunderball.

Sean’s in Japan and
Growing weary of the role.
You Only Live Twice.

OHMSS
Is my number one by far.
Hence, my moniker.

DAF is odd;
Farcical with chubby Sean,
Polarizing fans.

Here comes Roger Moore,
Driving boats and stacking decks
In Live And Let Die.

Next we have a slip,
The Man With The Golden Gun,
Although Lee is good.

The Spy Who Loved Me
(Action, women – and the jump!)
Is “Bond’s Greatest Hits”.

Moonraker takes Bond
Into space, which some fans hate.
Still, a gorgeous film.

Lose the PTS,
And you’d have a classic film –
For Your Eyes Only.

Most underrated
Scene in the whole Bond series?
Auction in OP.

Bond is cooking eggs
For an annoying heiress??
A View To A Kill.

Monogamous Bond
Fancies classical music –
The Living Daylights.

Miami Vice-ish
Licence To Kill precedes a
Six-year hiatus.

In ’95 comes
GoldenEye, which introduced
Bond to younger fans.

Lots of machine guns
In Tomorrow Never Dies.
Oh, and Dr. K.

Sophie Marceau shines
In The World Is Not Enough,
The best Brosnan film.

Halle, CGI,
And homages galore in
Die Another Day.

Daniel Craig? Reboot?
Will Casino Royale work?
We’ll find out next week! {[]
Hilly...you old devil!
