Moonraker yellow jump suit

Hi guys.
For a while now I've been going to film and TV conventions in costume, usually as another spy...Austin Powers.
See: https://www.facebook.com/AustinPowersUkLookalike

Now I've decided it's time for a change and I want to make a full 007 costume from one my fave Bond movies Moonraker ( I can hear a few of you groaning as I know MR isn't regarded as a classic, but it was my fave film as a kid and I still love it).

I want to make the yellow Drax jumpsuit that Moore wears in the third act. I'm going to post pics here and keep you guys up to date on my progress. I would love any help and feedback that you can provide. Any links or thoughts on fabric, the laser gun etc.

Yesterday I was given my first piece to the costume; the Moonraker patch as a present for my birthday which is tomorrow.

The next job is hunt down the correct fabric for the jump suit.

Cheers -{

    Big thanks to Ed and minigeff's help with this one.
    So the Factory Entertainment Moonraker laser is out to buy... but unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it I spent all my pennies on a Golden Gun! :D
    So I'm doing the full Moonraker laser rifle on the cheap! :)
    This is where I'm up to with so far!
    So I purchased a £30 Uzi bb gun for £30 ( a little bit more with shipping) from these guys: http://www.bbgunuk.com/Electric+Uzi+Automatic+Airsoft+Machine+Gun+PWtqTnlBRE14b0RkalZIWnZKSGM

    Now I don't have the necessary prop building skills to convert the Uzi into a Moonraker laser, so this task falls to my good friend Rich. We're doing a exchange, he's doing the conversion and I'm offering my filming skills for a project for him. Everyone's happy! :)

    Here are his progess shots so far!

    The conversion begins. All the inner working are stripped away and the shark bit is added.
    mr8_zps18fdf21d.jpg

    Areas are filled in.
    mr7_zps8a7ec3a6.jpg

    mr10_zps31faa351.jpg

    So Rich was convinced the 'grill' was rectangle at first so I sent more ref pics as you'll see he corrected it.

    mr6_zpsfce58475.jpg

    The front nozzle is turned and the new grill is added.

    mr4_zpsee377710.jpg

    mr1_zps2e811c65.jpg

    This is where it is currently up to. :)

    mr9_zps08e52bb7.jpg

    It needs to be painted white and all the extra details added. Rich also said he'd make me a stand for it. :)

    JUMP SUIT:
    I've been looking at different yellow fabric for the suit, but have not settled on the correct one yet. My patch finally arrived. I know it wasn't an embroided patch on the screen used suits but I quite like the extra detail.

    71441_10152538772985297_1302762298_n_zps8f178c7b.jpg

    I'm going to purchase a pair of yellow converse trainers as I'm pretty convinced its what the used in the film.

    WRIST DART GUN:
    Any idea guys?

    SEIKO M435:
    I have been looking on the Bay but prices are astronomical for the budget I'm trying to do this at.

    LASER PISTOL:
    I've been following some amazing threads on both AJB and RPF forums by our very own Ed on the construction of the black laser pistol (the one Drax picks up at the end). I have purchased the correct timing gun and I'm going to have a go at the conversion my self. I need to get some clear tubes.

    My timing gun arrived today!!!! Sometimes you have to love eBay!
    I'll start converting it in to Drax's laser gun later by pulling it apart and painting it black. :)
    Can't wait to have both the pistol and the rifle on display!

    I would also like to get the Venini hexagonal glass that the poison tubes sit in. I've been reading through a few threads on AJB and the RPF and DZ said he purchased a similar looking glass tumbler from Target a while ago. Unfortunately we don't have Target in the UK and I was wondering if anyone knew anywhere in the UK that I can buy something similar?

    Cheers -{

    I've scoured the Target website a couple of years ago and also raided one of theirstores in the US, discontinued from what I can see, but I do still keep my eyes open for similar. :#

    I'd love some Venini hexagonal glass... I've also been looking without success and can trade a black Moonraker laser gun for it or whatever you like. Thanks!

    Ed-
    That's a massive compliment coming from the master 007 prop maker!
    I've really enjoyed reading all your threads about the Moonraker rifle and pistol both here and the RPF. Without your research I don't think I could have got my little project off the ground. I'm dropping you an email now. :)

    Bond Collectors' Weekend -
    If there are a few of us interested in the Venini hexagonal glass I'll see if I find a glass maker to see we get a run on the go.

    I've just this second bought some clear 12mm rod to add to the front of the Drax laser pistol. I'm going to start cutting it up tonight. I'll update with pics later.

    Cheers -{

    Thanks Teppo. When I pop around to see Rich and collect the gun I'm going to show him this thread with all the compliments.
    He's done such a great job and it's his first ever James Bond prop he's built!
    I wonder what 007 prop I twist his arm into making next? :D
