    Can I be the first to suggest Idris Elba, just to get it out of the way. :D

    He'll be too old by the time Craigs next film is released :D
    I'd like to nominate Tom Hiddleston, who should hence forth be referred to as TH.
    It was either that.....or the priesthood

    Bit left field, but I rate Philip Winchester of the tv series Strike Back as a potential candidate. Pulls off a great English accent, good physique, handles a gun well & seemingly cuts the mustard when wearing a suit. Just a thought!

    It was 'confirmed' some time ago...just not through official channels...Eon hope to persuade him back.

    The actor Tom Hiddleston has fuelled speculation that he could replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, saying he was a huge fan of the 007 films and would not take on the role lightly.

    I'd be happy if Hiddleston got the job...I wouldn't be disappointed if Hardy got it though...but I'd rather Craig carry on for now.

    Michael Fassbender would be a good follow-up to Daniel Craig. That said, I hope that Craig does more.

    Seconded :007) . Hardy is fantastic but is too brutish and not to mention even shorter than our Daniel. Hiddleston has the class, the gravitas, and has proved he can handle the fisticuffs. He's the right height, and can REALLY wear a three piece suite. What's not to like? He even went to Bond's school. I'm in.

    I sincerely hope Craig returns to finish the SPECTRE/Bloefeld story. That being said, Fassbender could drop into the role rather seemlessly especially if EON wants to continue with the "grit" and reality angle. Fassbender is certainly an outstanding actor and is listed as 6' tall, 175 lbs and apparently is already a "workout" guy with a very lean, well muscled but wiry boxer-like physique. His best feature IMO and separate him from the pack is that he has a naturally "cold" look and gravitas which is perfect for Fleming's Bond. At 38 he is perfect age-wise but EON would need to get cracking on 25 if they would want to get any mileage out of Fassbender for 4 film run...and of course that's the rub. Would an established actor who is not wanting for roles like Fassbender be willing to take on a long term commitment as Bond? I believe if EON really wanted him they would be willing to pay him but I'm not sure he'd be willing to make that kind of long term commitment. Regarding Hiddleston, he is a very good actor, has played villains (which I think translates well for Bond) and has the height (legit 6'2"). IMO, he would need to hit the weights a bit (at 6'2" and around 170 another 10 lbs of muscle is needed for a convincing contemporary Bond) and get a bit of a tan. Hiddleston was a Rugby player in college so he probably has the toughness that is needed. Hiddleston can due both charming and nasty at the same time with ease which is a big plus for Bond. My biggest question mark for him is just his facial looks...to me he just might not have the "look" but that could certainly change with the right haircut (Hiddleston has naturally curly hair) make-up and wardrobe. Tom Hardy is much more of a wildcard for me. He is a terrific actor but really hard for me to peg as Bond. He is apparently shorter than Craig (most of his bios list him at 5'9") but he is such a DeNiro-like chameleon in looks and physique depending on the role that it wouldn't surprise me if he could transform himself physically to be a convincing Bond. Many of the roles I've seen him in were so far from Bond (except the British Agent in "Tailer, Tinker, Soldier, Spy" which wasn't very Bond-like IMO) it's just too hard to tell. Age wise, hardy is around a year older than Fassbender but again Hardy is such a chameleon it's hard to judge.

    He would be as he does look the part, although, will he be too old by the time it comes around?

    Aidan Turner all the way. Handsome, charming, can be brooding & tough onscreen, right age, great in interviews. -{

    Fassbender's too well-known by now. I think Hiddleston would be the closest to the Fleming ideal yet? But he's also on the rise.

    For me it has to be Dan Stevens. He is literally perfect for it. He's the right age, he's the right level of famous (Downton Abbey made him a house hold name for many, but in no way is he an established movie star, which is perfect), He's got the right looks and physicality, and he is a fantastic actor. Having seen And Then There Were None, I think Aiden Turner would be interesting and he could most likely pull it off quite convincingly (He actually fits Fleming's physical description of Bond remarkably well). Though Hiddleston I can't see as Bond at all. Plus he's also probably a tad too famous. This I feel discounts Fassbender and Hardy totally. They are quite simply too well known and too established. They are both oscar nominated, have been in some big films and are now probably 2 of the most famous actors on the planet, and I am of the firm belief that a movie star shouldn't play James Bond. Rather, James Bond should make someone into a movie star. I am bias because I do love the idea of Dan Stevens as Bond, and because of this I sincerely hope that he gets it. I think he would be wonderful in the role and he would be a perfect follow on from Daniel Craig. He's got more of a traditionally handsome look, and he would probably bring a bit of a lighter touch. However I think that he would still incorporate a level of toughness and physicality to the role that is now vital in the world of 21st century Bond. I for one will be so excited if he gets the role after Craig lets it go. So Dan Stevens all the way for me :)) :)) -{

    I think there are many good candidates this time: Aidan Turner, Clive Standen, Luke Evans, Charlie Hunnan, Sam Heughan, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Rupert Friend, Barry Sloane etc.
    Dan Steven and Tom Hiddleston aren't masculine enough and Fassbender is too famous. If an actor is so famous he is launching other film franchises (Asssasin's Creed, Harry Hole) he is too famous for Bond. If they couldn't get Craig in 2006, they should have hired Fassbender.
    Tom Hughes impressed me in "The Game", but he looks too "Brit pop" to play Bond I'd say.

    Right now my favourites are Clive Standen, Sam Heughan and Rupert Friend

    Sam Hueghan sans facial hair is much too "boyish" looking for Bond at this time IMO....maybe in another 5-10 years. Aidan Turner has the look....but might need a few years to mature also. Clive Standen looks right and has the background to do the physical stuff very well and is relatively unknown in the US. Rupert Friend, like Fassbender could be dropped into the role relatively effortlessly he just would need to be able to deliver a bit of charm as opposed to his current character on "Homeland" but he does have very good screen presence and a certain brooding charisma. It would be best if Craig just comes back for at least one more. I am not quite sure beyond some quotes from Mark Strong and the infamous "I'd rather slash my wrists" comment where all this Craig won't be back for Bond 25 stuff is coming from any way. I'll be in London next month so I'll sit all parties involved down and get this thing all sorted out....well if my wife gives me a few minutes off from site seeing..... :s :)) -{

    I think Tom Hiddleston is too famous since he's been in some of the biggest blockbusters of the past decade, and from what I've seen him in I don't think he'd be right. Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba are too famous, and Elba is too old. Aidan Turner and Rupert Friend have the right looks, and I think they could be a fantastic Bonds.

    I have to admit, I really starting to like the idea of Aidan Turner as Bond! The guy looks the absolute business! He's only 7 years older than me, another thing that excites me, actually witnissing a guy close to my age play Bond!

    Didn't realise he was 43 - presume he would be at least 45 by the time the next Bond movie comes out!

    Tom Hiddleston? Really can't see him playing Bond at all.
