Re: Bond 25 Theme: Artist

I'd personally like one of three options for the next theme.

1. Shirley Bassey.  Give her a 4th theme song.  She just turned 81 and it'd be great to have Craig's last outing as Bond also have her last outing singing a Bond theme.  She belted out 'Goldfinger' on a JB special a few years ago and still sounded pretty strong, so let her do it if she's up to it.  She has a grace and a muscularity behind her voice that really is without equal for female singers of that ilk, and it perfectly fits James Bond.

2. Muse.  I'd like another 'rocking' song.  The rock tunes have been, in my opinion, very successful (Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, a-ha, Chris Cornell) in terms of being good tunes AND in terms of being good Bond tunes.  'Supremacy' is excellent and would have made for an absolutely stellar Bond theme.  I'm not sure if it's too late to use that song or not...if it is, then I'm sure that Muse could create another equally good song for a Bond theme.  Still, I'd prefer to stick with 'Supremacy', which leads me to my third choice...

3.  Tarja.  She's the ex-singer of the band Nightwish, and she's had a successful solo career over the past decade or so.  She has an opera singer's voice and knows how to use it to great effect.  She did a cover of 'Supremacy' that's really, really solid.

She also did a version of 'Goldfinger' that isn't bad.  Taken as its own thing it's solid, but it's not even close to Bassey's version.

Speaking of Bond covers, I kinda like what the band Within Temptation does with Adele's 'Skyfall' here:

Overall: I just want a Bond theme with some meat to it.  Sam Smith's contribution to SPECTRE is one of the worst themes that we've received, Academy Award be damned.  It lacks power, it lacks oomph.

Re: Bond 25 Theme: Artist

My vote is for Lorde. She has a great set of pipes.

On a side note, do any of you remember this song from the early 2000s? Received a fair bit of airplay in the Chicago area, anyway. To me, it was one heck of a missed opportunity as it will always hold a place for Best Non-Bond Bond Song  ajb007/tongue

Any hint of controversy.

Shame she could do something interesting. I fear we will get the Prince of Beige again...

Re: Bond 25 Theme: Artist

Get Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones to do a duet for BOND 25.  It'd be killer.

I've been listening to Rag n'Bone Man lately. He's the best male candidate today, in my opinion.
Lorde, Lana del Rey, Beyoncé.... there are many good female candidates.

If not Shirley Bassey and/or Tom Jones, then Muse.  Muse all the way.

This may sound crazy but Post Malone doesn't have a bad singing voice either (not referring to Rockstar, dig up a bit on his covers)

It's never the case that they get rejected candidates back but if they do, give Radiohead another chance, their rejected theme was brilliant. And speaking of, so was Shirley's No Good About Goodbye.

a reasonable rate of return

I know EON try to get someone contemporary, but I really would like to see Dame Shirley Bassey. Hey, if the latest continuation novel can be set prior to Casino Royale, why can't the latest movie have Dame Shirley?

Lorde's bland for me but good on her for taking a stand against them.
Lana's first album was fine, can't say I've kept up with her but I don't think she's Bond theme material. Her voice didn't stand out, her lyrics and music did.
Beyoncé, I like ajb007/embarrassed but unsure if we could use another Austin Powers traitor after Madonna. Do we have to keep using his sloppy-seconds?

I've only heard of Only Human from RBM and I'm more fond of it than most of the other pop these days.
What about...Dua Lipa?

thanks Punker, now I have this image of Craig having to settle for women Mike Meyers has already had his shagadelic way with. No wonder Craig always looks so grumpy.

Still, it's better than recycling used plots.

Agree about Rag n Bone man and Dell Ray, but disagree about Lorde and Beyonce, although I don't think Ms Knowles is right for Bond.

Lorde is ok, some nice songs...Beyoncé - for me - hasn’t done anything of note for a few years...
