Re: Bond 25 wishlist

Perhaps. That depends on the name, I guess. The most outragous names won't fit Craig's style. But I don't think a name like Honeysuckle or Bang would be a problem in a Craig Bond movie. Regardless, posting a few names won't hurt.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

you know Joe Bang was Craig's character's name in Logan Lucky?

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

good name, references the old "kiss kiss, bang bang" thig for those of us who remember...
but it'd be like MooreBond meeting a woman called Simone Templar

Strawberry Fields was a silly oldschool name for a CraigGirl, so maybe they'll give us some more like that

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

In earlier posts I've written that they should use more Bondian names for characters. Case in point:I'm now listening to an interview of a former CIA agent who was station chief in many countries. His name? John Sipher  ajb007/bond

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

My ultimate wish list:

- a ski chase
- David Arnold score
- More Bond theme
- Bond sweeping the rooms for bugs
- Bond doing real spy stuff, or as James Bond Radio calls it: sneaky Bond
- No more rogue stuff: I want Bond to come to M's office in the beginning of the movie, get a mission and go on with it.
- On that topic: I dont want the whole MI6 team to be involved. Stick to their core jobs please: Moneypenny is a secretary, Q is the quartermaster and M has a deskjob managing the 007's.
- I want Bond to womanize more. This differentiates Bond from the Ethan Hunt's: he is a charmer, a sophisticated gentleman.
- On that topic: I want Bond to be snobbish again: I want a monologue about a certain wine, whiskey etc..
- Minions: lots of them ajb007/smile
- Mason and Sons to take care of Bond's suits
- Turnbull and Asser for the shirts and ties
- Bond in navy costume
- Matt S as clothes consultant
- Bond wearing a Rolex
- The introduction of May; Bond's housekeeper
- A PTS that has nothing to do with the plot, but shows Bond having some fun
- New locations for Bond. Please no Italy; I am hoping for lots of Asian locations

That is all for now. I am sure I will add to the list  later ajb007/smile

I agreed with all of this except for the Rolex - as an Omega wearer I hope they stick with it as I can't afford to change brands!

It’s past time Craig’s Bond wore a navy blazer.

My friend and acknowledged Bond Accademic  (whom I suspect of ghosting on this site although he denies it) has been contacted by a journo to seek his opinion 're Bond with a beard' . Apparently odds have been slashed. More silly season speculation, although we have already seen Bond straddle the stubble/beard hinterland. As a Naval officer a Beard is not unusual. I would not like to see it in 25 or subsequent installments though. Tom Cullen manages to pull it off though so who knows.

I think one reason why Bond's bit of stubble in SF was so popular is because facial hair seems to be way more common now in professional settings then it was in Bond's earlier days. I agree that Bond should always be clean shaven though unless he's in a scenario where he cant shave.

Yep, times change and Bond reflects that.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

Many of us think we see too little of Bond's leisure activities in the modern Bond movies, but I would like to see a bit of the Leisure activities of the villans too, especially if it's cinematic and reveals his/her personality. I think illegal safari hunting in Africa is perfect. Hunting lions or hippos is dangerous, illegal (at least in some countries) and seen as villanous by many. It should also look great on the screen and an African location will be nice. It's cliché Africa I guess, but the safari could be an excuse to show us the modern and urban Africa too.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

- I want Bond and Madeline to break up early in the film because of his lifestyle and job

- The MI6 needs information from Blofeld to stop some evil plot, but he insists he'll only talk to Madeline

- Blofeld escapes near the middle of the movie, but it's not Madeline's fault. Perhaps the ultimate goal of the evil plot was to break Blofeld out of jail? Perhaps SPECTRE blackmails MI6 to release him, if not they'll blow up London or some other disaster?

- Felix Leiter and Lucia Sciarra are married (only a short scene)

- The Garden of Death at the end (no need for a Bond girl to die to motivate Bond)

- Madeline and Bond depart as friends, Bond ends up with andother woman who also survives.

I remember in the early 2000’s, office wear became much more casual. Then the recession hit and the trend swung the other way, because workers felt they needed the edge in competing for jobs. I suspect the same is going to happen with facial hair in professional settings. I just get this vibe that it’s starting to be seen as lazy. Bond should keep on being classic and forget about trends.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

I want:

Bond and Madeleine have already broken up at the beginning.

Bond is depressed and  screwing up his assignments and even Moneypenny is losing patience (like the beginning of the novel YOLT).

Bond is given a routine assignment that even he can't screw up (exfiltration for example).

He learns that something much bigger is going on and that Blofeld (who escapes from prison in the PTS) is behind it.

The Garden of Death.

Bond dies in order to save millions.

Madeleine shows up at the funeral and makes a wry remark as she tosses a flower on his grave.

The fictional character James Bond is immortal. How many times has Sherlock Holmes died? Conan Doyle killed him first in 1893 and he's since died dozens of deaths in books, movies and TV shows but he's still going strong. There seems to be at least a couple of new Holmes movies or TV shows every year.

197

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

Holmes didn't technically die in 1893. In fact I don't know of any films, novels or TV series where Holmes actually dies. The character has been portrayed by very many actors in many ways, but that's different from Bond. The Bond character has (almost) always been portrayed by EON.

Actually killing Bond would mean ending the series or giving creedence to the code name theory, both ideas are horrible ideas IMO.

Holmes did die at Reichenbach Falls (Conan Doyle wrote in his diary that it was the end of Holmes!) but brought him back because the fans demanded it. He was able to do that because Holmes is a fictional character (and "The Final Problem" has been adapted many times with Holmes dying). And Bond would be brought back in a new set of films even if he dies in Bond 25.

They'll still be producing James Bond books, movies, and TV shows long after I'm dead.

199

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

Yes, Conan Doyle really meant to kill Holmes in the Reichenbach Falls. He intended this to be the end of the character, but due to popular demand he wrote more books where Holmes survived his fall. Did you suggest it should only look like Bond dies in Bond25, but come back in Bond26 and explain that he really didn't die? If not the Sherlock Holmes example isn't really applicable.

It can be done whatever way the producers of the film want to do it! We've already had the first scenario in the films YOLT and Skyfall and Fleming originally killed Bond off in FRWL (and intended for him to stay dead) but brought him back when the book proved to be a big hit.
