Just seen this on the BBC.. not sure if mentioned elsewhere, or if it should be in the for sale/trade area, whatever, a couple of cool things...

Also ALL of the deacs in that auction are illegal. Looking at potential prison time for selling them at the old spec. No mention of the VCR Act either to bidders on the stunt guns.

I wonder what sort of provenance is being supplied for some of the big items? Even fake items have a small curiosity value as long as they're not being passed off as genuine I suppose.

Would the auction house not insist on the deacs being at current deac spec? I thought even handling them was an offence in a sales chain?

This is true, they have to deactivate them before offering them for sale or passing to another party even as a gift. They haven't. So in effect, both the original owner and the auction house have already broken the law. In light of the way these things are looked upon in recent times, I wouldn't like to be in their shoes.

Whoever this guy is, I'm already upset with him for not sharing the news that the DAD Cuba shirt was Bironi, we just confirmed that out recently on our own!

That's what I hate about some collectors.

Well, it is illegal to buy or to sell a deactivated firearm that hasn't been deactivated up to current regulations, if you own one already with a deac certificate from a proof house ie London or Birmingham then you would have to have it further destroyed... Er I mean have further work done to bring it up to regulation. I don't know for sure but some of these weapons in this auction don't seem to have had this done so I'd say no to bidding on them unless the owner or auction house are having the work done prior to handing them over.
In essence you would be participating in a transaction that is unlawful.

They are standard N.I. issue British Army. Nothing special whatsoever!

That is one way of phrasing it. I would have said greasy when they eventually dry out but yes Crap! certainly covers it :(
Additionally I know of the original source for this pair & regrettably that source is known to be questionable!

I'm no expert when it comes to shades but these may be the ones which have Casino Royale Limited Edition engraved inside the arms? however as that edition was a US exclusive from Sunglasses Hut they may also be standard Persol but either way they were official.

I used to have three of the same Persol box sets filled with cards and stills from the movie on the back (showing the glasses). These normally came as promotional items to the sunglasses stores, intended to be given with both 2244 and 2720. Seller gave me three :p Unfortunately, I left them in my home in Syria before fleeing. Also this was my first Bond related purchase.

The glasses are the same as the ones he wears in the film. They're nicely boxed with the card motif on the outer box and the glasses are branded too.

This auction has begun to get a lot of notice and I doubt prices will remain as low as the opening bids. I'd like to find the Persol cards on that lot alone, without the other items.
