Poll: What title do you want for future Bond movies?

edited August 2019 in The James Bond Films
Since the producers haven't found a title yet (aparently it's a tradition now :)) ), it would be interesting to know what titles the members in AJB007 want. If your favourite isn't among the options, please post it. This is a multiple choice poll, since many of us like several titles.

I'm glad to see votes are in already. I think this is a chance for members who don't often post to be heard, so please vote! :)

But, will the choice of the majority be respected or will we
Have an argument over whether it's a hard or soft title ? :p

The title with the most votes will obviously not be the winner, TP :v

I think the title will end up being a real stinker, along the lines of "The Undertaker's Wind".

I voted for a few of my favourites.

I’m not too keen on any of them. Based on what we know so far about the plot, I’d think something reflecting Bond’s devotion to duty, something like “For Queen and Country” or “Duty Never Dies”, off the top of my head. Alos agree “Bond25” is growing on me..

Now I regret not including "For Queen and Country". The title "For Special Services" is another good title along the same lines.

I've seen it mentioned here and know its a title of a John Gardner book, but Licence Renewed.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

Based upon what's known of the story line of Bond 25, Licence Renewed could be a great title. Two things however, one would have to wonder if EON would use a title from a book they really aren't using (they have used elements of the book for other films) and given the less than stellar box office history of Licence To Kill would they be willing to use Licence in a title again?

I wouldn't really mind if thet used a few of the best continuation titles ("Devil may Care" springs to mind) without really using the story from the novels. But License Renewed isn't a good title. It's flat and has no mystery or wit to it.

Shatterhand would be fine if it didn't sound like "Shat Her Hand". And then Bond pornos would be showing up with that title.

I didn't make that connection tbh.
Is that the reason why you think it shouldnt be called shatterhand?

    none of the above.
I want to finally see a film with the title Motel Nymph

as a bonus, I bet Fleming never stipulated EON is not allowed to use the plot and characters from that story!

Number24 where did you get some of the titles in your poll?
specifically Once Upon a Spy, A Whisper of Death, Death Leaves an Echo, and Death is so Permanent?

Just throwing this out there. I know many people want to see the Garden of Death on the big screen. Someone want to see the title be Garden of Death. I wonder if the title Wicked Garden would confuse it with the Stone Temple Pilots song with the same name.

Stone temple pilots are a good band, cool name too "wicked garden".
I love how we have no name at the moment so people are just guesssing all sorts.
It literally could be any that have been said or something totally different and not thought of.

I wonder when going to see it at the cinema if it will roll off the tongue like "quantum of solace" haha.

All the titles in the poll have been discussed or at least mentioned in the forum earlier. If only you'd suggested "Motel Nymph" earlier :D
I think the results so far are interesting, hopefully it will give us a clearer picture of what the members here want than the usual discussions do.

what I mean, is some of those suggested titles are from Fleming and some are not.
What is the source of those other titles? another continuation author? some other Bond-related material? or entirely new phrases that sound cool?
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I'm still rather hurt that Thunderpussy doesn't even get a mention :p ;)

I think "Once upon a spy" was suggested by a member of AJB. Blofeld was "suggested" by me, but only as a title I suspect EON would chose. "007" has also been talked about here, especially after the rumours of another agent being 007 in parts of the movie.
"Eclipse" was rumoured to be the title of Bond25 some time back. The rest is Fleming, and judging by the results so far that's what the members here prefer.

Wait …. I've made a mistake! I wrote "A whisper of Death" instead of "A whisper of hate". What a shame, I really like "A whisper of hate" :#

According to the book SOME KIND OF HERO, ONCE UPON A SPY was an early title for SKYFALL. I like it. Perhaps it might work better for a new actor though. I also like the idea of A GENTLEMAN SPY as a title for BOND 26 & a new 007. It might suit someone like Tom Hiddleston if they went back to the suave & sophisticated approach, which I think they should.

Personally I'd like ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD for BOND 25. A nice nod to the past without being a complete rehash.

I don't think EON can win whatever they choose. If they opt for a more generic title (i.e. featuring DIE) they're accused of laziness. If they opt for Fleming (e.g. QUANTUM OF SOLACE) they have a sarcastic (& obviously uneducated) press wondering what it means. They simply cannot win. The media's love affair with Craig appears to be over. Ironic his latest film should be called KNIVES OUT. The media obviously have theirs out for him & EON.

thanks Big Tam, I never heard of the one before.
Its very different from the generic Die Die Kill Kill type titles, isn't it, it suggests a fairy tale logic which we have not seen in the Craig films (maybe better suited to Moore's films).
By implication it makes me wonder "will they all live happily ever after?", which is appropriate for Craig's last film, especially if it's true it will be a series finale.

‘Once upon a spy’ sounds like a Man from UNCLE film or John Le Carre novel title, so - while I like it - I’m not sure it’s in keeping with the Fleming- type titles imo.

One phrase I've thought would be good for a title comes from another Bond film: Names Are For Tombstones sounds quite Fleming to me. I think moreso without the 'baby'! :)

"Finally Here" would be a good title....

My vision and hearing both will be failing by the time they get this one into the theatre.... 8-)
