Felix Leiter in Fan Fiction?

I am the newest of newbies, having just joined ajb today. I've just started re-reading Casino Royale, in order to have it fresh in my memory when I see the film (Though more often than not, being familiar with a novel only makes me more resentful of its film adaptation -- so hopefully I'm not just setting myself up to be incredibly irritated again this time!). And as always happens when I delve into things Bond-related, my Felix Leiter fanaticism is once more taking over my life. Ever since discovering Bond in high school (a disturbingly long time ago now), the Bond & Felix friendship has been my favorite aspect of the series, and I've daydreamed off and on over the years about various Felix-based fan fiction possibilities. That's happening once again, and I'm musing on subjects like Felix's family background, the question of where in Texas he hails from, details from his Marine Corps career, more about his taste for jazz, his first few months after the shark incident and his retirement from the CIA/joining the Pinkertons ... ANYWAY, my question now is, does Felix feature in any of the fan fictions posted here? If so, please direct me to them! Many thanks! I'd be delighted to hear from other Felix fans, too. Does anyone else think that Felix ought to have his own series of novels?

Hi Felicia, and welcome to the insane world of online Bond fandom. :) I'm afraid I don't know of any Felix-centric fiction here at AJB, but here's a couple of suggestions:

If you need a Felix fix then try 3,475 by the ever-excellent Clinkeroo at CommanderBond.net

Or you could try Between You And Me by yours truly at the same website. Please bear in mind that it needs rewriting, and was written with the end of October in mind. ;)

Indeed, Felix Leiter is probably the most memorable of Bond's allies in the novels. With regards to fan fic, it is unfortunate that all my work thus far has not lent itself to having Leiter in the story. The situations I have created for my fan-fics have not been ones in which the USA would be lending a hand. Also, the same applies to my current work in progress I'm afraid. As much as I would enjoy recreating Felix Leiter for my tale, his involvement would seem a bit implausable. Maybe next time. . . ;)
