I really enjoyed this...not exactly played for laughs but certainly with a wink...enjoyable nonsense )

Last night I saw the Norwegian movie "The Wave"(Bølgen). It takes place in the Geiranger fjord, about an hour from here. A large chunk of a mountain by the fjord will fall into the fjord. We don't know when, we only know it will. When it does it will create a tsunami up to 80 m (260 feet) high. This type of disaster has happened several times earlier in this region. Geologist are monitoring the mountain with advanced equipement to give an early warning, but from the moment the avalance happens to the moment the wave hits the village of Geiranger they only have ten minutes! They have two steep, narrow and bendy roads to escape on.
I think the movie is really good. Story, acting and special effect are of high quality and the action and suspense is buildt and maintained throughout the movie. I also like that no-one wastes time saving any cute dogs This film has seen a lot of sales to foreign cinemas, so some of you might get the chanse to see it.

It wasn't for me. I like my Sci-Fi with " phew, phew" lasers, Technically
a fantastic movie but I got bored about half way through.

Von Ryan's Express (1965), with Mr. Francis Albert Sinatra as an American POW who engineers the hijacking of his own prison train, aided--or perhaps burdened--by fellow POW Trevor Howard, a Brit so stiff-arsed it's a wonder he can sit down. A fun WWII actioner, with a couple of Bond connections: the petty fascist in charge of the prison camp is Largo himself, Adolfo Celi (and he speaks only Italian, so I think this is the only film I've seen him in in which his voice isn't dubbed); and one of the Yank prisoners is young James Brolin, who would later audition for the role of 007.

I saw The Man from UNCLE last night, and I really enjoyed it. It had witts, style and some thrills. Instead of going for wall-to-wall action and CGI, It had witts, style and some thrills. I have dreamt of a Modesty Blaise movie in this style, perhaps starring Eva Green, Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Laurie.
The Babadook. I'm not much for scary movies--mostly because I don't scare easily--but this Aussie film is an old-fashioned throwback to things that lurk in the shadows and make sinister noises. It creates genuine chills and suspense--and the movie plays with the genre by making the endangered child as creepy and unlikable as any monster. . .at times you hope the title creature eats the little moppet!
Just watched the extended BD version of Green Lantern (directed by some guy named Campbell 8-) ), and really enjoyed it. No, it's not the best superhero movie ever, but it's competently made & Reynolds and Lively make the film better than it could have been without such amazing chemistry. The extended scenes added a little bit, but didn't radically change much.
Haven't seen the extended Green Lantern but I hated the original!
She (1935)
From the makers of King Kong, another exotic adventure with SFX that would have been fantastic at the time and still aren't too bad today. Some stiff acting (Randolph Scott), and the version I saw had been colourised which didn't help- anyone ever seen a film where that works?
Ouija: standard teen horror film, all the usual clichés and no surprises.
Runaway :
Although made in 1984, I'd never seen it. Tom Selleck as police Robotics
expert. Trying to stop a criminal selling new high tec bullets and weapons
to criminal organisations.
Although set in the near future ( probably today) it looks very dated, the
Robots are crap, basically boxes on wheels. Although they do have the
Police officers using iPads ( big thick ones with chunky buttons)

A Documentary ? On Netflix. It's amazing the conclusions some people
jump to, from grainy phots, with no detail and loads of shadows "making
shapes" . Apparently the Moon is full of huge buildings, satellite dishes etc.
This information is of course being withheld from us, as we couldn't handle it.

A trashy B movie of the kind I love- and in many ways, a precursor to Alien. Watch the earlier film first, then count the similarities.
