Watched a Tim Vine dvd and it did get a bit stale quite quickly.
Rich Hall is another funny guy. along with Reg D Hunter. The Only one I'd have a disagreement with
would be Russell Brand, just don't get his humor, yet find his sister Jo very Funny.

If you like Carlin and you are not familiar with Richard Pryor, you must check him out. Many comedians, including Carlin, name Pryor as one of the greatest of all time. Pryor's movies by and large fail to do him justice except his concert films. That's where you really get to see his genius.

I know from watching the special dvd of "Blazing saddles" that R Pryor worked on the script and was due to play the sheriff, but at the time he was doing so much drugs that he was too unpredictable. I do remember seeing one of his Stand up Videos but that would of been in my teens ( which was a long time ago ) )

I advise you catch on iPlayer part one of the Imagine: Woody Allen doc that was on yesterday, that said, though What's New Pussycat was slated by Allen, due to the studio interference, and regarded as a salutory lesson, there is no mention at all of Casino Royale, which I think was the real salutory lesson, and came after.

Stewart Lee for sure. If you don't know who he is, go and Google/You Tube him. He's the Jacques Derrida of comedy - he deconstructs it as he goes along in his excellent stand-up routines. There have been three series of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle (2009, 2011 and 2014) which was where I first discovered him!

Yes, I accept that he is very unconventional and not very popular as a result - as I say he a deconstructor of comedy to its barest components and not everyone digs that. He does really tell "jokes" as such either. In fact, during his 2011 Comedy Vehicle show people actually walked out which he suggested could be his version of the much more popular Michael McIntyre's cutting away to laughing celebrities! As he said himself "This is not a mistake. This is actually my act!" )

You should try Mark Thomas - a very funny guy who doesn't get the credit he deserves as he doesn't really tell 'jokes' either...but he's a million times better/funnier than Stewart Lee - in my opinion -{
