Alright, after having seen CR twice, and having seen the Bond films recently again, I can say that my top 10 performances are:

    1) Sean Connery - FRWL
    2) Sean Connery - Dr. NO/GF -- tie
    3) Timothy Dalton - LTK
    4) Pierce Brosnan - TWINE
    5) George Lazenby - OHMSS
    6) Roger Moore - FYEO
    7) Sean Connery - TB/NSNA -- another tie
    8) Roger Moore - TSWLM
    9) Timothy Dalton - TLD
    10) Pierce Brosnan - GE

Yep, hasn't changed - Craig didn't convince all too much. I'd say he's a very good Bond - but I won't say that he pulled a great performance. He just seemed wooden, and stiff, to me.

    IMO, always...

I watched GF and FYEO the other night for the first time in a long time, and I was really impressed by just how good and serious Moore was in FYEO. There wasn't as much goofiness in the film as I originally thought, although there were some silly moments (PTS was awful, Bibi's character is rediculous). Also, Connery was a lot more serious in GF than I remember. That said, new rankings:

    1. Daniel Craig- CR
    2. Timothy Dalton- LTK
    3. Sean Connery- DN/FRWL
    5. Timothy Dalton- TLD
    6. Sean Connery- GF/TB
    8. Roger Moore- FYEO
    9. Pierce Brosnan

Which Brosnan performance are you thinking of? ;)

And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman

All of them. I can't differentiate which I think was better. I love them all, and I think in each of them, he did something unique.

I wish that Tim and/or Pierce got the chance to a film like CR. I think they would have done quite well with it. I don't know if they would have done as well as Craig did, IMO, as he's become my favorite Bond, but they would have been great.

I also wish Roger had gotten the opportunity to do a darker, more serious 007 in lieu of the silliness he had to deal with most of the time. He was simply sensational in FYEO, even if he was starting to show his age.

I rewatched GoldenEye and On Her Majesty's Secret Service last night, and I'm going to have to give another boost, this time to Brosnan, and reorganize my top-10.

    1. Daniel Craig in CR
    2. Timothy Dalton in LTK
    3. Sean Connery in DN, FRWL
    5. Timothy Dalton in TLD
    Pierce Brosnan in GE
    7. Sean Connery in GF, TB
    Roger Moore in FYEO
Pierce Brosnan in TND, TWINE, DAD

Sorry, George. You did a good job, but you were just too inexperienced as an actor at that point in your career.

Don't think I can give you ten, but I will give you what I think are the top ones.

1 - Sean Connery in DN, he made the character the popular icon he has become and if he had not pulled off a great performance, Dr No would have been the end of Bond

2 - Sean Connery in GF, completly at ease with the character, he was James Bond.

3 - Sean Connery FRWL, great performance with some real intrique and the best fight ever put on film. Connery has stated that fight scene is the scene he is most proud of.

Pierce Brosnan in GE, many thougt Bond was dead, articles apppeared in periodicals proclaiming Bond was dead and no one cared anymore. Bond had been off screen for a long time and Pierce brought Bond back to life with a great performance that reinvigorated the franchise.

Pierce Brosnan in TWINE, in my opinion his best performance as Bond.

Daniel Craig in CR - his performance was very good.

Timothy Dalton in LTK played BOnd tough and ruthless and in my opinion, pulled it off.

Roger Moore in TWSLM - his best performance

Um, there aren't ten top Bond performances?

    Connery in:
DN (a tad raw, but still up there)
    FRWL
    GF
TB (a tad thin, but ditto)

Lazenby in OHMSS (a tad inexperienced, but ditto again)

    Craig in CR

Maybe an honorable mention for Moore in TSWLM? Just not sure how to rank him as Bond, as I don't think of him as Bond despite his obvious talents. I remembered him being better than he was in LALD, after a recent viewing...oh well.
