    Hi, Asp9mm

I am sorry, that I have made her angry. I have heard this kind of reply before and find it very strange.

I think, the major problem is here the short-term sight of some management people.
I think, that this problem can really hurt Omega's reputation in the long end but noone there sees the need to change this as it will cost them money presently.

One funny thing aside as a non-native speaker:
I have seen in a different thread the short term "gf" and assumed, it meant "grandfather".
I assume, that girlfriend is more accurate :))

Beyond that, the trouble with characterizing any watch in a movie (let alone how it's worn), lies in understanding how films are made in general. Asp9mm, you and I have had a number of exchanges outside of here discussing this as far back as "the" Dr. No Rolex: I doubt there was one, and, indeed, it would be quite outside the norm for that to have been the case (no pun intended).

Perhaps, but the fact of the matter is that the budget for Dr. No was extremely small even for back then. I think the total was something like 900,000.00 Pounds Sterling. That is why the Rolex Submariner was borrowed from Cubby Broccoli. Moreover, Bond was not yet a success and nobody new for sure that it would be. You can't compare the way Bond movies were made back then to today. They were made on a much smaller scale, certainly Dr.No.

Does this mean my Omega's bracelet is going to shatter soon? So far it has held up pretty damn well.

Yes, it's doomed. Throw it away and get a Sub :D :p {[]

I have had my Omega since 1998...no issues or problems with the band etc...to me leaving the house without it is like leaving without clothes on....sorry for the visual but you get my drift.

Mantis, I've felt the exact same way. Same metaphor and all.

I'd love a Sub, but I've yet to find one in my price range.

You are correct. It is not the pin, which wears out, it is the tube/barrel.

Even, your statistic says, that 15 users had no problem, I am aware, that this may cause trouble as the tube is really thin. So, my feeling here is, that Omega invented a system, which is pretty fragile and thin and in the case of my friend, it completely failed. And this has surely not been due to improper resizing as around 10 of these tubes have been worn off more than 50 %.

For my confidence, this is not sufficient and I'd better stay with my GMT II and Sub. The Omegas go into my 007 showcases.

To be honest my Omega seamaster does not get much wrist time either. I like it well enough, but to me it just screams "I'm a James Bond nut". For daily work wear I use a customized seiko diver with a bead blasted case, MOD dial, sword hands and sanitized case back. It's my beater. On other ocasions, my Rolex watches (5510 Sub, 5513 Sub and GMT II) get the bulk of the wrist time. However, on very special occasions I wear my pristine 60's era Breitling Navitimer with AOPA (Airplane Owners and Pilots Association) dial. For some reason my wife thinks it's the best looking watch I own even amongst the ones not mentioned here. It could be because the sub dials have aged uniformly to a nice golden patina.

Okay-- so we've gotten some different explanations for possible cause to the problem you've described. You say it "has sure not been due to improper resizing," so I'll ask if there is any other pattern (or lack of pattern) you can think of.

You mention Planet Ocean bracelet failures as well. The PO has only been in the field about 16 months. Are you saying that the 2531.80 Seamasters and POs that are losing bracelets are doing so at the same, or different rates? proportions?

No, I have only been informed, that the Planet Ocean braclet is fitted with the same pin and tube system like the Seamaster James Bond model. So, the problems are likely the same.

About resizing: If the watchmaker does not forget to insert the tube again, I doubt, that there can be so much wrong. And, simply ask some people, who are professionally receiving Omega repairs: They know the problem.

Recieved my OMEGA Seamaster James Bond limited Series watch on Sunday as a birthday gift.
An excellent quality watch with snazzy leather case and great picture of Daniel Craig as Bond inside.
Very pleased to have been able to get hold of a limited series version - a collectors dream.

    Any pics yet, Mantis ?

Is your watch the Limited Edition Planet Ocean ? I tried to find some info out about this watch in some jewellery & watch shops, only to be told that "it doesn't exist" and the only watch associated with CR is the Omega 007 LE 4901483. Any help out there ?

Yes it does exist, it is Ltd to 5007 pieces, comes on a resin strap and has 007 on the second hand in red/orange. The back is engraved with the Casino Royale logo. It is the massive version of the PO too.

Where did you get the model number you're referencing here?

From a guy at one of the top jewellery & watch stores in Manchester. He was most adamant that a LE Planet Ocean watch for CR didn't exist - I was most insistent that it did ;) Guess I'll have to buy it from elsewhere :D
