I kinda agree with you, Bond should use a smaller gun. But I disagree with the choices you gave. He should be using the P99 compact now for concealed carry and still use the P99 for tactical missions. But you can conceal a P99 even in summer clothing with the right holster.

Has anyone actually held a Walther P99 Compact? I've held the P99 and the P22. According to the specs the P99 Compact isn't much larger than the P22, but still has all the same internal parts as it's larger counterpart. I'm wondering if the compact is considerably smaller, while in your hand or holstered for concealing.

It is alot smaller and very ergonomic. It's nice and solid, well engineered. It feels and looks smaller than a Glock 26, but is actually the same size but more contoured. Excellent little gun. Holstered in a IWB it virtually disappears, but with enough of the butt showing to gain easy access. Shouldered in Ken Nulls SMZ it is light, comfortable and infinately more concealable than the P99 due to the forshortend butt, the regular P99 is awful to conceal in a shoulder rig, and is easily spotted in a suit jacket. The compact is great for deep concealment, even more so if you use a mag plate without the finger spur. But this is not essential and I'd trade the extra support for the concealment issue, which is very small anyway.

Thanks for the info ASP. I'm going to be getting my CCW (Carry and Conceal Weapons Permit) very soon and need to purchase a firearm. I'm going to have to spend the money and buy a Walther. I believe the P99 and the P99-C are both the same price. Smith and Wesson makes a 99 that is virtually the same gun, S&W also makes parts for the Walthers. They are generally around $100 cheaper than the Walther, but I would spend the extra money for the Walther. When you hold the S&W 99 it just doesn't feel the same as the Walther.

No, don't get the SW99, the differences are more than cosmetic as you have already found for yourself. The P99-C will do you well. I'd also contact Ken Null or Matt Del Fatti, as they make the greatest concealment holsters ever. Ken Nulls UNS is a definate must, that thing could comfortably conceal a wine bottle.

Finally, ASP. Someone who agrees with me. I don't think anyone has believed me that there is an actual difference. They've obviously never held both guns. Thanks for the tips with the holsters, I'll definatly check those out. After I purchase my 99C I'll have to try to get a silencer. They are legalizing them in Michigan, USA I've been told. Just have to get authorized by your local sheriff. No practical need for me to have one but what the heck it'll look cool.

When they say they are "legalizing" supressors in Michigan, that only means that the state's own ban on them may be being lifted. Supressors are still illegal to own anywhere in the USA without the proper Federal Firearms License, which costs about $200 IIRC. The same federal permit would also enable you to purchase fully automatic weapons, if you can afford one.

Right, you'll still be able to get one though. I believe it is much easy to get the permit and actually i think at a better price if you're a member of the NRA. I'm not going to be purchasing a supressor very soon anyway. I'd like to have one eventually, still have to buy the gun however.

I have been looking for a holster for my replica P-99 for some time, originaly I thought about just a belt holster since most leather shoulder holsters cost fifty dollars or higher. After having watched Casino Royale three times and reading everyones comments, I am definatly going to get an IWB myself.
