What is your favorite scene in Casino Royale ?

As I mentioned before, I'm not much of a Craig fan, but my opinions are starting to change after I saw the movie again and the shower scene was a bit touching. I was being rather biased to begin with and I believe I should give Craig a shot. After all, Brosnan started out awkardly in Goldeneye.

Anyhoo, my favorite scene would hafta be when the air patrol manage to pin Bond to the car, and he watches while the bomber blows himself up. I just loved the expression on his face )

What a great scene...an excellent Bond moment for The New Guy :007) That smile on his face says a lot about where 007 is going now. Great call, GG.

I love this entire movie too much to have isolated any one moment in particular---they'll probably be trickling out as I think of them---but one of the first really great moments of the film comes during the construction site chase, up high on the crane arm: Mollaka runs out of ammunition, and throws his gun at Bond---who catches it in midair, throws it back, and beans him with it B-)

The torture scene. I think this was the defining moment for the character and for Craig's portrayal. Bond faced the most treacherous situation of his life: he was bound with no way to escape, and his very manhood was being assaulted. This is a time in which he could easily have buckled: he could easily have saved himself and compromised his mission, but he was defiant and resolute in achieving his mission through it all, as symbolized by his sardonic mocking of Le Chiffre in the process. This may be my favorite scene in a Bond film yet.

I honestly love that scene, not being sadistic of course. It was very close to the description in the novel and I would never imagine this happening in a PG-13 film, let alone a Bond film. The little banter between him and Le Chiffre was a classic

That's a tough one, there were so many, loud and quiet moments alike (just saw it for the third time today). I wouldn't call this a "scene" but rather just a visual that said "James Bond" to me. The aerial shot of the train snaking through the valley in "Montenegro." I know I'm always agitating against formulas and cliches, but I'd like a train scene in all Bond movies.

But a couple of scenes I loved that haven't been mentioned yet here were Bond's teasing of Vesper with the "Stephanie Broadchest" cover. Very flirtatious and fun. And the dinner jacket scene, with Vesper turning the tables on Bond and his fabled sense of sophistication.

"I sized you up the moment I saw you ..."

Wonderful. And what a fit on that jacket! (talk about an impossible stunt, by the way) You can see how blown away he is looking at himself in the mirror. No wonder he falls in love.

Which brings me to this aside: Many people, even CR fans, have remarked on Bond's supposed lack of suaveness, as played by Craig. That he was rough around the edges in that department as well as professionally. I didn't get that sense at all. I felt Craig displayed plenty of sophistication, but only when the situation called for it, such as inside the casino. The sophistication disappears when he's killing people, which seems sensible to me. The other Bonds by comparison all looked like they wore tuxedos to assassinations.

Gotta say I love the scene where Bond is mistaken for a valet, so he takes the car and smashes it into other parked cars. The way he flips the keys over his shoulder is classic 007.

I'm torn between that scene and the scene where Bond watches the bomber blow himself up. Thats some good stuff there.

Its not my favorite scene, but one of the more touching scenes was how Bond fought to get Vesper out of the lift.

Much like Loeffelholz, I loved the whole film start to finish thus making it harder to pick a favourite scene.

My favourite action sequence would have to be from the moment he realises what was happening when Vesper has gone to get the money right up to when she is dead. Its non stop with a real sense of urgency.

My favourite emotional scene has got to be the one in my sig with the armour dialogue - the delivery is absolutely spot on. I downloaded the trailer and its used as a voice over in it and even without the visuals to go with it, it doesn't sound hackneyed or cheesy.

There are others and I think you can't fail to like the scene with Mr White right at the end but I'll shut up now as thats the best 'narrowing down' I can do!!

What Bond said during that sequence just cracked me up especially when his prediction came true.:))

I'm glad to hear someone say that out loud. When the trailer came out, a lot of people scoffed at the line. I liked it myself, and liked it even more in context. I've seen the film three times, and except for a small chuckle at Bond's attempt to be glib about Vesper's feelings with his "little finger" joke, the audience is always very quiet during that scene. Maybe it's because the audience is just stunned to hear James Bond seriously talking about love, but I don't think so. It really is moving. And it's only one example of how skillfully the writers, with limited screen time, sketched the relationship between Bond and Vesper.

The scene where Bond is picking-up the classic 1964 Aston Martin from the valet & invites Solange back to his place for a drink. It just cracked me up when he drives around in a circle & pulls back in front of the same hotel. This was just an unexpectedly funny moment.

I loved the PTS. The black-and-white was genious.

The scene after the stairwell fight when Bond is cleaning himself up is a job well done by DC. You could tell that killing is taking its toll on Bond. Very Fleming.

My other favourite scene would have to be when Vesper kicks the elevator shaft and it plummets into the water, and Bond dives in after her. I thought it was heart wrenching when she grabbed his hands through the bars and held them against her cheek. That was a real tear - jerker

I am going to select the Aston Martin crash because it has yet to be mentioned.

One of my favourite's shots of Daniel Craig as Bond is just before he is suddenly shocked and surprised at the sight of Vesper's body lying across the road. It's just a quick shot as we see him behind the steering wheel looking ahead all cool and calm. The crash itself is spectacular, all those rolls. I must have seen it around thirty times by now and it's still just as exciting to watch as the first time I saw it.

I think you're in a very small minority there, Lyle Dark! The wast majority loved CR, but many of us disliked the song. A few of us dislikes the movie, but I think they disliked the song too!
But relax, it's a free country. To each his own!
I loved the movie and there are many good scenes.
Perhaps I'll chiose the torture scene. It was very painfull and tense, really well acted. But somehow they managed to put some of the funniest lines right there!

I know the Madonna theme that was used for DAD was pretty shockingly poor but I can't help but think that a rejigged version of her recent single Jump (which had a parkour video) would not have been a bad theme for CR, not in the tradional sense though.

As the film is big on sponsorship etc then she at least attracts the money and chart success that YKMN might not get. Apols for the length of the post but the lyrics (apart from the family/sisters bit) are quite fitting:

Man oh man. This movie was so good, it's hard to pick ONE favorite scene. But I have to say it's a tie between the scene where Bond comes back from nearly being poisened and the torture scene. Both scenes showed mainly the same thing: Bond's egotistical spirit...which we all love.

personally i loved the Pre Titles Sequence, just gave daniel craig a chance to make the role his own, i thought it really defined Craig's potrayal of bond. i also loved the showe scene, very powerful and also the scene where bond is very perplexed when he finds that vesper has gotten him a new "tailored" dinner jacket, it was quite amusing

Hard to say...gotta see it again, but the "valet" scene was fun, sort-of XXX, and who doesn't wait for the "Bond-"etc. line, but the buildering chase was also awesome. That's what we call parkour on this side of the pond. Very On-bak, Jason Statham stuff. I think that we try to compare the new movie, the new Bond, with what has come before, and we can't. We get too jaded, and we have to give the new versions a chance. I admit, I winced at Craig at first, but I gave him a chance, and I'm happy that I did. Bond continues!

It was that scene where bond and M were under that pagoda by the pool, and she has the man plant the chip in his arm. Craig giving the most monotone, stale "Ow." cracked me up. I thought it really underlined how rugged of a bond craig was, and he was only saying "Ow." to show he was human, it was entirely unnecessary. haha...geez...

I chuckled at that too. His delivery was like "thanks a lot, pal" to the guy who implanted the chip. I loved the guy's facial expression, too. It was like "Hey -- Don't blame me; I just work here ..."

Tough question! But the dialogue between Bond and Vesper in the car...

Bond: "You are not my type."
Vesper: "Too clever?"
Bond: "No, single."

I think that's one of my favourite moments in movie because it tells about Bond's past and also the way of his thinking for the future.

Action scenes are chapter for itselves, of course.

Too many favorites to single out one in particular, but here are a couple:

M:

"I'd ask you to remain emotionally unattached, but that doesn't seem to be a problem for you does it?"

Bond:

"No."

His delivery was just perfect.

The moment just after he tries reviving Vesper and he goes and sits on the edge of the building. He's hyperventilating and on the verge of an emotional breakdown. You can see the tears in his eyes and fully expect him to lose it, but you actually see him gaining control of his emotions! Quite a performance by Mr. Craig!

Odd Jobbies

After the stairwell fight, looking in the mirror of his bathroom there's a great sense of adrenalin - post fight shakes. Craig's performance here is stunning and presented aptly with the hand-held camera. The shower scene afterwards is the icing on the cake - particularly liked that his knuckes were cut - the devil's in the details.

Brosnan's best scene was in TND when he takes a sip of vodka as he waits in his hotel room, silenced-gun at the ready (reminisent of Connery in Dr No, when Professor Dent "has his six").

Here CR is doing this same moment - what its like to be killer - but more than ever manages to put you inside Bond's head.
