I think that once you have the plot down you allow yourself to feel a lot more of the film, if you know what I mean??
I found the music a lot more atmospheric the 3rd time I saw it. I particularly like the orchestration of the CC song used when they are arriving to meet Mathis for the first time.
One of the big things to notice seeing the film a second time + is Vesper's reaction to her name being the password when Mr Mendel puts in his second appearance - the looks on her face and general body languange make a lot more sense and are a lot more noticeable.

I'm absolutely thrilled---I've lined up babysitters for the kids, and am finally getting my lovely and long-suffering wife out to the cinema tomorrow night: my third viewing...with dinner and drinks to follow

I am debating a fourth viewing, perhaps on Sunday as the beloved is off to the football so that leaves me with a few hours free. Either that or I might go in the week after Christmas as I suspect it will still be on as its still on 10 showings a day atm.
Problem is that my brother gave me a DVD version the other night - and don't worry, got the obligatory lecture about piracy etc. - but I couldn't resist watching it and have now seen it 3 times on top of my cinema visits. The ability to go back again and again to certain parts is just fantastic. I simply cannot wait for the official DVD to materialise.

My wife loves Craig, and can't wait for his next one. She's always been big on Bond's eyes: they have to be cold...and she says Craigger's icy blues are right for the part. She appreciated the torso, as well I think
She didn't care for Vesper at all, however (the character, not the actress, whom she thought did a good job)...didn't buy into the 'tragic' aspect at all---in fact, she said she actually expected Bond to kill her, ala Electra in TWINE...

I recently saw CR for the first time. I will be seeing it again very soon and I wouldn't be suprised if I end up seeing it three times. It's not because I absolutely adore/worship it (even films which I am completely in love with, I wouldn't see more than twice in the initial run); rather it's because I'm not too sure what to think about it. I need to see it again to determine what I think about it. I will then see it for a third time, presumably, with someone else. My first two screenings will both have been by myself.

5 times its class... real hark back to bond of the early sixties. Inspired and graig is superb, has a real menace and brutality akin to connery and lazenby. Let hope campbell directs the next one...

Was Vesper in love with Bond? I believe so. If not, why did she bother to stay with him, after she finally managed to get her hands on the money during Mendel's visit to the nursing home?
Also, her caress of Bond's fingers, while she was stuck in that elevator underwater and the seashell Bond had discovered amongst her possessions proved that she had been in love with him.

Why would Vesper need Bond around until she could withdraw the money? She had already managed to transfer it to that bank account in Venice, while he was still recovering.
If she didn't love him, she could have made an excuse to bid him good-bye and leave.
As I said, I believe Vesper falls for Bond but, as M says, "she must have known she was going to her death" and the money was a trade-off for Bond's life. Perhaps she wanted to be sure before she handed it over - you know women and money ?
I also think that Vesper knew they would not let her live - and, anyhow, how would she explain the missing money to Bond and the Treasury ? I think she wanted Bond to find out who was behind all this and avenge her.
Don't forget that both Le Chiffre and Mr. White worked for the same organization. In fact, I cannot help but wonder how Steven Obanno had learned of Le Chiffre's whereabouts.
I'm not so sure that LeChiffre and Mr. White did work for the same organization. I think LC may have been what we would call an independent contractor. Mr. White says as much at the beginning of the film, when he tells Obanno that his organization could guarantee the introduction to LeChiffre but not the safety of the money. That as well as subsequent developments suggests to me that there were competing interests at play.
highhopes, is that a moped you are sitting on? Does it have a rocket powered sidecar like in TSWLM? And that outfit looks suspiciously like Bond's romper suit in Goldfinger.

This is the first time that I haven't wanted to see a Bond film more than once. I saw The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day twice but have no desire to go and see Casino Royale again.
I want gadgets and insane villains with improbable plans to take over the world and gratuitous opening credits with girls doing stuff.
