Stephen King's take on CASINO ROYALE

My Entertainment Weekly just arrived in the mail. I flipped to the back page to read Stephen King's bi-monthly column -- as I always do -- and read his Top-10 Movies list for 2006.

Casino Royale came in at number four. Here's what he said:

"I came out of the theater thinking it was the best Bond since Goldfinger. A subsequent viewing of Goldfinger -- for this column -- has convinced me it's the best Bond ever."

King has made me smile---and laugh out loud---too many times to count over the last 28 years...to say nothing about the thrills and chills B-)

Good to hear he enjoyed the new Bond {[]

A Stephen King Bond novel would be pretty interesting. ;)

I'm probably one of the few people in the world who thinks King is overrated (and steals a lot of people's ideas), but I can't agree that "Casino Royale" is better than "Goldfinger." It's a great Bond film but simply does not have the sense of scope and panache that "Goldfinger" has. The next one may, and I hope that the filmmakers don't take comments like King's to heart and think that they don't have to work harder to make the next film.

I, too, hope the producers don't rest on their laurels with Bond 22. As for King being overrated, his most recent works have been something of a letdown.

Really? :o And here was me thinking that Stephen King remains tragically underated. :D

Although I adore Stehpen King, I don't agree with him that CR is as good as GF. I'm yet to see it again (which will clarify my feelings aout it) but I doubt that it will end up higher than 8th on my list. (Behind DN-OHMSS and TSWLM.)
