Follow the link to read an interview from today's Observer with Craig. Talks a bit about Bond, his new fame, not really wanting to appear on 'Parkinson'(Can you blame him? world's most boring chat show), 'His Dark Materials' and 'Infamous.'

Interesting stuff- especially about the whole fame and press thing.

I wonder if anyone could shed some light on the clashes between Craig and Campbell. Who was to blame? Who apologised if apologies were forthcoming?

Quite frankly, I would be surprised if there weren't any clashes between Daniel Craig and Martin Campbell. Considering the six month shoot, the tight schedules, the long working hours, etc.

I can't remember reading anything else about disagreements between the two. I think the writer (Liz Hoggard) means the kind of arguments that can happen between actors and directors when filming, where one thinks a scene should be played a certain way, while the other thinks different. I cetainly don't think there's any animosity between the two. In fact I think those kinds of working relationships can be quite creative. Both have reasons to be very happy with their work on CR. It would surprise me if there was any bad feeling between the two.

I agree. Whatever disagreements there may have been were just normal, everyday clashes of opinion that co-workers have, especially in creative situations. I heard, for example, that Eva was originally going to wear just a bra and panties in the shower scene, but Craig argued Vesper was unlikely to get undressed before getting under the water under the circumstances set forth in the story.

    Great article; thanks, John.

Sounds as if Craig is starting to come to terms with his success, and its requisite press-relations baggage.

I hope he continues to do such eclectic, wildly diverse projects in-between Bond outings---with any luck, it will help keep him from becoming too bored with 007, which is a far bigger concern to me than whether or not #22 is as 'successful' as CR. I am enthralled by his interpretation, and would like to see him do his full three-picture deal (at least)...

Judging by the critical and commercial success of Casino Royale, and also judging by the critical praise of his portrayal and his acceptance by a big majority of Bond fans I would be surprised if Daniel Craig decided to call it quits after Bond 22.

Yes, Craig is the kind of actor who is always looking for a challenge, but I believe there still is a sufficient challenge/motivation for him regarding the evolution of Bond's character which should see him through his three-picture deal before he moves on.
