Should I Be Ashamed Because I'm A Bond Fan?

Ok so I went into college today and as I entered the classroom some of the other students started singing the James Bond theme tune at me, as it turned out they had found my Profile on Youtube and viewed my videos, and most of them were my attempts at making my own bond gunbarrel with me as bond, They seemed to think this was really sad of me, and thought it was geeky. For me this was humiliating, I was ashamed. As soon as I got back home for my lunch break I deleted most of my videos on youtube, well the ones of me in the gunbarrel.
Now m question is should I have deleted these videos just because a couple of other people thought I was geeky for liking James Bond? Should I be ashmed because i'm a Bond fan?
I'd really like to know your opinions on this, or if any of you have found yourselfs in similar situations then I would like to know about them and how you went about the situation.

My friend, I don't know your "friends", but i'll tell you this. Maybe they should all take a closer look at themselves in the mirror before they open their big ignorant yaps.
I will GUARANTEE you that there is a Star Wars or Star Trek fanatic in the bunch...or a Hulk Hogan fan...or a fan of Buffy...Justin Timberlake...J-Lo...or whoever is the flavor of the month.
My point being is that each one of these people is a fan of something that they would not have the GUTS to reveal to ANYONE...let alone Youtube!

Not only should you NOT feel ashamed, Scott, you should revel in the fact that you are the fan of the greatest hero in pop-culture history...and in terms of general fan-dom...Bond fans are the cream of the crop.
Tell those bums in your class that you are a proud Bond-fan. There is NOTHING to be be ashamed about in liking 007, my friend.
What is truly pathetic is seeing a bunch of desperate, loser hipsters make fun of a man's hobby. Those bums laugh it up but, you know what, Scott? At the end of the day...thats all they got...hollow laughter.

Don't be ashamed or embarrassed about anything to do with who you are. It takes a bit of practice; no one adopts a "fvck it" attitude overnight, but as said earlier in this thread - play up to it and into it and that horrible feeling in your stomach at being singled out fades at each turn. That doesn't mean becoming the life and soul (and mouth) of the room, but any form of mocking doesn't stick to a proud person and very quickly the people around you will get to know that.
My self confidence was smashed through the final years of High School thanks to a select few who decided they would do their best to make my life hell. My hangover from those days lasted way longer than I should've let it. But now I couldn't give a toss what folk think, to be honest. The strength to build that last layer of confidence back up came courtesy of a few close friends.
There's the harmless ribbing that your friends will dish out and that you learn to laugh along with, and there's the stuff that's deliberately aimed at undermining you and hurting you, from the people who want to believe you're a loser. Your friends and family won't think any less of you for what you are or aren't interested in, and no one else's opinion matters.
Go put your videos back on YouTube. B-)
The problem with being a Bond fan is that, unlike Star Wars, there's the major discrepancy between his life and ours. No one expects us to be flying a Millennium Falcon etc, but there is an obvious chasm between the av Bond fan's lifestyle and their hero that does stand out a bit.
Still think you should turn up at lectures wearing a tux, if you've got the balls to laugh it off...

See here's where your years of Bond fandom could have paid off with a perfect quip or comeback like Moore's Bond would have concocted, or straightened your "tie" like Brosnan in TWINE (yeah, I say that, but let's face it we're not Bond, and hindsight is 20/20).

Its a small moment of embarrasment, for a lifetime of pleasure. Ive learned as you get older, life is for you , and if collecting Bond ( as i do ) or creating Bond gun barrels gives you a satisfaction ,happiness or contentment in your life, then carry on. Maybe we should create bracelets that state WWBD?
You should feel sorry for these people. People who will ridicule someone for being who they are or what they like to do usually are not thinking for themselves. They call you a geek because thats what they have been programmed to beleive a geek is, by the media no less.
These people, i'm willing to bet, have not taken the time to really form an opinion of what you are doing. They will have all formed an instant opinion. Probably because they have nothing better to do.
You should ask them why it's geeky? Maybe one to one, not infront of the group. Then let them come up with an answer. They will probably say what they originally said, that 'it's sad' thats not a real answer, push them for a real one and watch them squirm trying to come up with something. They may just say they were messing around. If they say something constructive, take it on board, but i'll bet my life savings they can't come up with anything solid.
Stick to your guns, you ARE a Bond fan. Don't let anyone beat you down because of that.
Stand proud next time you see them, walk tall and don't let them get to you.
And don't delete your videos, you should make more!
