What about Lotus?

I realise there is massive heritage with Aston and I think Bond should stick with them for at least one more film, but I have so often looked at a Lotus Elise and thought "phwooooaaaar!".

Don't you think Bond would look good in a Lotus Elise? A white one!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.

To be honest...no! It's way too small, way too boy-racer-made-good-ish and just no where near as classy enough. Plus the 2007 Elise replacement will either have to meet bumper regulations in the US, or manage to continue the exemption currently granted to the existing Elise in the US market. Otherwise, it's just not got the brand power if it's not a global seller (marketing is everything, remember).

By the time Bond 22 comes along, Aston will be under new ownership, and it will be back to who can stump up the most cash for product placement, rather than any other reason. I'd reckon it's a safe bet Ford will provide the money again and he'll be behind the wheel of a Jaguar. Logic would say an XKR, but the XF will have just arrived on the market or nearing launch by that time. Jag's sales are on the ascendant and Ford will be keen to continue turning the brand around. I've read at least one source contributing the 50% surge in XJ sales as partly due to it's "bad boy appearance in Casino Royale".

Interesting stuff about Jaguar- I think you're probably right about him being likely to turn up in one in the next film, but to spice it up a bit; Aston, even though it has been sold to a new owner, is still 10% owned by Ford. So you never know- it's not totally impossible that he could be in an Aston again, although I would expect Ford to prefer if he was in a Jag!

And yeah- although I like them, Lotuses aren't really Bond's type of car anymore. Perhaps the new Esprit, though- that's shaping up quite nicely.

    Lotus Elise? Nah!

It is rather small, yes it is a nice car but really it is just not Bond's car!

The Jaguar XK is much better IMO.

I don't think you will see him in a jag. The only jag I would have liked to have seen him in is an E-type. But in an earlier film.

Probably not, but still the Jag is a nice car! :)

I've got to admit I never used to like them and the older style was horrible I thought. But now they are starting to use the sort of design Aston Martin used for years. Which is a far better look imo.
