Locations

Deepest apologies if this has already been discussed.

What locations would you like to see in line for Bond 22?

Here is what I would like to see:

The Scottish Highlands - Think it would be great to see some action sequences up some high hills, plus we haven't seen much of Scotland in Bond, except for TWINE.

Canada, rocky mountains - Bond has never set foot in Canada in any films, I would love to see this happen in Bond 22. Especially the rocky mountains. It would make a nice change.

Australia/New Zealand - I bet people knew I would say this. It's a bit of an obvious one as it is a WHOLE continent that Bond has NEVER been to before. Bond going to Australia would make the film really, really memorable. I'm really suprised that he has never been to Australia yet.

Easter Island - How good would that be? Some fight scenes infront of those big stone heads!

Ireland - Has Bond ever been? I don't recall it, unless I'm missing something.

Norway/Denmark - Again, would make a nice change.

Mount Rushmoore - Ok, may be pushing it, as it would be ripping off Hitchcock's 'north by northwest', but I still think it would be extremely cool.

I would also like to see a bit more of Siberia. And Italy.

Thoughts?

Indiana - ...oh wait, never mind, there's nothing here but corn, soybeans and overrated NFL quarterbacks

    I agree with Canada.

Southern Germany perhaps? Bavaria? Possibly even dabble into Austria? I think this would make an exotic location for a Bond film.

Oceania - There may be too much island hopping, but it could be something to consider.

First of all: Denmark looks nice - Norway looks breathtaking!

Others: Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, Syria, Africa south of the Sahara, Venezuela and Colombia. Kashmir (India/Pakistan), Sri Lanka. Helsinki (Finland), mainland China.

Generally, I feel luxury locations in "old Europe" (Rumsfeld's words) should be avoided.
    Monaco, St. Tropez, Wienna etc.

Any middle eastern location would be very good.
It doesn't have to be a plot about islam or terrorism. Moscow and mainland China has been criminally underused. Downing street no 10 or a royal castle would be fantastic! Perhaps a break- in (he liked to break into the houses of authority figures) to get information?

I'm still hoping they one day return to Japan---some elusive castle, with a weather balloon tethered overhead :v And of course metropolitan Tokyo.

I like the notion of a villain's lair deep in the Australian outback...

And Number24 is right---Scandinavia would be great...

oo7 as always been at his best in "old europe" (especially in the Casinos) and Carri-beno, that said it would be nice to see Africa and the Far East again.

But where in Scandinavia? The flat, nice fields of Denmark? The deep forrests and tranquil slopes of Sweeden? Or perhaps the staggering mountains, white glaziers and deep fjords of Norway?
With a un-norwegian self-asertiveness I can say I live in a region where you can find a landsscape to rival most Bond locations by laying out a regional map on the table, close your eyes and point...

Just to back up my last post:
Here is a somewhere I slept over once in my teens, a few miles to teh south from here. A bit like Spitz Gloria, perhaps?

This location is much closer to me. I haven't been on "the needle" myself, but several people I know have:

Of course if 007 did come to Australia, the question would be exactly where would he be located?
Queensland, with it's great beaches and spectatular coral reef?
Sydney, with it's world famous landmarks, such as the Sydney Opera House, or Harbour Bridge?
Melbourne, with it's cafe culture, the Eureka Tower (the tallest building in Australia).
Or even the Northern Territory, with it's vast desert, and of course, Uluru (Ayres Rock).
Of course, if Sydney won the battle, they'd never let us here the end of it... :D
Seriously though, I've been waiting a very long time for Mr Bond to arrive here in Australia.

Being a Canadian the idea of Bond coming here would be, well, hmmmmmmm....

"My name is Bond, James Bond."
"Oh yeah? Cool. How's it going eh?"
"Not bad, I've been chasing a rather expensive Aston Martin, have you seen it?"
"No way eh. I'd like, remember that. Hey, you talk kinda funny there buddy, can I get you a beer?"

    ...shudder!

Sorry fellow Canadians. I just prefer my Bond in places a little more exotic.

I'm reading "Shalimar the clown" by Salman Rushdie. The novel strengthens my belief that Kashmir should be a Bond location. A perfect blend of exotic beauty and danger. Here are some pictures:

How about a snowy, mountainous location? Or maybe inside the hull of a submarine capturing supertanker? They've never been done before.

Or even maybe inside a volcano somewhere in East Asia?...

Has Bond ever been to a small neighbourhood?

Do you think that a violent road chase in a small, calm neighbourhood would work? I think that'd be interesting.

I can't remember anything similar to this is any Bond film, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Well well. I'm a big fan of Bond going to Canada. I like to see the world with Bond as our tour guide. He truly does show fan the world in style... Canada is one place I've never seen, and I'd sure like to. So, roll on Bond visiting the north.

Going to Australia would be great, but Sydney would just remind me way to much of MI:2. Norway would also be spectacular, it has some fantastic scenery. But what in God's name would Bond do there? Fight an evil oil mogul or something?

Well a Polar Bear would get pretty angry in Australia, less so in Norway I imagine. :D

If Bond finds villans to fight in Austria, he can find evil in Norway too. :007)

I would also like to point out that we don't have polarbears in mainland Norway. On the Spitzbergen islands on the other hand ..... the kindergarden is fenced in an no-one leaves the town without a high-calibre weapon!

Now I know how how the fight could be done:

There are two scenarios: Bad guys hijack the sub from the russians or SBS storm the sub after the bad guys have taken it.

    http://www.tonyrogers.com/weapons/russian/typhoon_02.jpg

The stormers use fast, fairly flat-bottomed boats. Perhaps the Rigid Raiders (http://www.army.mod.uk/img/2div/ta5.jpg) the type of boats Daniel Craig used when he was presented as the new James Bond.:007)

They approach the stern of the Typhoon and glide up to the tower, storm out of the boat and assault the occupants of the giant sub!

I would really like to see that!!

{[] I think that would be wonderful. One of my favourite action scenes was the fight at the start of Kill Bill Volume 1 in the family home. I think that a violent scene contrasted with the quiet calmness of a small neighbourhood could indeed be fantastic. :D

That scene is great. This discussion also reminds me of a couple scenes in Mr. and Mrs. Smith where Brad Pitt chased after Angelina Jolie speeding away in a car by running through some backyards, and when they had the gunfight inside their house. Those are memorable scenes from a fun film.
