Can anyone tell me what what was used for the Telephone bug detector in "From Russia with Love"? I am assuming it is an existing meter of some sort.

It's a funny little device made by Elcometer used to determine the thicknesses of finishes (such as paint, powdered coatings, etc.) on metals. The unit in the film is black but if you find one in a different color--they came in red, green, and blue, also--the trim is easily peeled away and replaced. They turn-up on eBay ocassionally and several dealers (like SpyBoys) list them as well. The device has been out of production for many years now.

Just make sure you get the one with the small dial on top. This is the movie version. Also no lanyard loop. Also check out the scales, sometimes they are inverted and not correct to the movie. Any queries, send me PM
