TMZ and other sources are reporting that the L.A. County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating Pierce Brosnan for allegedly battering a photographer in Malibu last Friday.

Take it for what it's worth.

Now, I'm by no means a defender of the paparazzi. I realize that the opportunity to obtain a juicy story or a large sum of money in restitution from an accused celebrity could well be the motive here. But if true, then I am extremely disappointed in the Brozzer.

Nevertheless, it looks like Craig is off the hook for the time being. :))

I feel sorry for the poor guy - first a paparazzi follows him, then he presses charges.

Sad. Pierce is obviously trying to one-up Craig, who didn't even use his fists! 8-)

Even more bizarre are some of the reader comments :s

Anyway, it wouldn't be the first time a celeb lost it with the paparazzi...however the kicking Brosnan in the stomach conjured up a funny image in my head for some reason.

Is it me, or to commit battery, do you not have to first batter the living daylights out of somebody? All this tube got was a jab in the ribs. That's hardly a serious assault. And Rosen's story sounds like crap. He 'instinctively kicked him in the stomach.' Isn't that trying to disguise the fact that he hit Brosnan back, but wants to appear that he is the innocent party. And mentioning Bond to Brosnan must be a pretty sore point right about now.

Paps, and lets call them that, for they are tits, claim that celebrities shouldn't mind having their photos taken. That it's an occupational hazard. Well conversely, tits shouldn't complain when their money shot turns round and gives them a hiding. It's an occupational hazard Mr Rosen. What kind of whiney little bitch goes to the police because an old man has poked them in the ribs? What a despicable tit. X-(

I have total empathy for anyone (or any Bond ;) ) who loses their patience with these people. I suspect it's a cumulative thing; you smile patiently, grit your teeth and bear through the first ten thousand such incidents...but being human, you eventually snap.

True, paps have a job to do...but it is an inherently parasitic job, IMO, and it places them in that particular spot in the food chain, as far as I'm concerned. There are lines of personal intrusion and taste that ought to be observed, and when they're not, maybe the parasite gets swatted by the animal on whom he's feeding B-)

Pierce will pay a fine, if he's found to be at fault...then his attorneys will have to settle with the shysters hired by the p***y in question, when a civil suit is inevitably filed 8-)

Pierce has had a very short fuse with the paparazzi since his son was in the car accident and they were literally snapping pictures over the cliff at the scene. He also had a run in with a few of them outside his house a while back, I'm sure it's on YouTube somewhere.

Is it bad I think he looks great in the photos? :)

Spot On. Its par for the course, celebs get hassled by paps and paps get smacked by celebs. If the story is accurate then it was fairly obvious Pierce, with his kids, was not in the mood. To just carry on is stupid.

He probably wound Pierce up because this story sells more than the pictures woul have on their own. ;)

Everything you say is correct, John, although here in the States, there's no such thing as a "despicable tit." :D

What these celebs have to put up with is ridicules. Take a look at this You Tube video of Britney Spears trying to go to a Target. At one point some regular folks intercede on her behalf. Imagine putting up with that every day of your life.

I heard on television that Brosnan was fine talking to the paparazzi guy about Bond, but snapped because the paparazzi guy started talking to his kid.

I can understand that. I don't like paparazzi any more than other people here (although it seems that John Drake dislikes them the most :))) however one thing I detest is when the paparazzi bother the family. Say what you want about a celebrity having to accept photographers and journalists as part of their job; their children should not be forced to accept it. I'm not a father as of yet, but I can't imagine my own (non-celebrity) father reacting in a pleasant way if the paparazzi were to bother me.

No wonder Britney went into meltdown. It wouldn't surprise me if she went after them with a machete at some point.

Holy Christ! After watching that video I find it amazing that more paps aren't attacked on a daily basis!!! I don't blame Pierce for his action or any celebrity that acts out against the paps. They are parasites and leaches and they don't know when to stop.X-(

In case any of you were wondering how it all turned out, it appears Pierce will not be facing any criminal charges. :)

    This according to Reuters:

"After a complete review of the investigation done by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, there is insufficient evidence to prove this case to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt," Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney James Garrison said in court papers.

Well Pierce, it appears One's Word Is Not Enough! Looks like you'll live to be Fined Another Day! Alright, I'm done. ;)

{[] Good news. Now Pierce is free to beat The Living Daylights out of more paps. Maybe that's not the right Bond title to use. :))

It made me remember though how Sean Brosnan said in the weekend Mail magazine that his dad had a terrible temper and how when he crashed his car(sean) he was more concerned about what his dad would do, when he found out!
I think Brosnan should calm down.He is being paid millions to be in the public eye. If he doesn't like it he should get a normal job, maybe he should work in ASDA! They'll never notice him there. But star in Hollywood films, and the chances are you'll get noticed

IMO, there is a difference between working and having a life, why can't 'Hollywood' actors have a normal life away from the cameras too?

As for the pap in question, even TMZ didn't stand behind him when he complained to them right after the incident. Celebrity children should be off limits anyways, for the child's safety.
