I can't be bothered with Pulp Fiction. Tarantino's mystique is on the wane. He's turning into the new Brian De Palma, and the first one was bad enough. I think 20 years from now, people are going to look back at Pulp Fiction and wonder what people ever saw in it. Though I do like Jackie Brown a lot.

And me! I've never enjoyed his films. He is so manic and over the top. I cringed big time when he took an interest in directing a Bond.

:)) We're never going to agree are we? First, you launch a crusade against the Spider-Man films, then you insult T2 and Totall Recall, and now this. :D When I eventually provide my picks, I wouldn't be surprised if you actually like those films. ;)

Wow, I didn't realise so many people hated QT. Personally, I agree that he's arrogant, but I think he's a fantastic filmmaker. Pulp Fiction IMO remains one of the greatest films of all time, while I also adored the Kill Bill films. Like many people, I wouldn't want QT to direct a Bond film (but then again, I don't want any big name director to direct a Bond film) and I have no desire to ever meet him, but I don't think he's a hack in the slightest. I think he's supremely talented, but he should stop talking about how talented he is.

I have four picks for the title of worst film ever:

1)RobocCop 2- I will never forgive Hollywood for this. I adore RoboCop; it's one of my favourite films and IMO it's among the greatest and most beautiful action/sci-fiction films of all time. RoboCop 2 is the exact opposite; it is an ugly, shameful piece of work that trashes everything that was so wonderful about the original. Most of my favourite films are violent (from The Godfather to action/martial arts films to James Bond) but the violence in RoboCop 2 is so unnecessarily ugly, in such a terribly written and conceived film, that I wouldn't mind it at all if all copies were to be burned. I would in fact volunteer to light the match. :D

2)Predator 2- It's not enough for Hollywood to make terrible films, they have to make terible sequels to brilliant films. :s I really love the first Predator. A superb action/sci-fi film it features Arnie whilst in his prime. :D The second film, however, was a foul, terribly made, stupid film which only serves to illustrate that simply because a film is a masterpiece, it does not mean that its sequels will also be great. Which is fine; but would it be possible for the sequel to be good? Or even okay? Predator 2 is so terrible that I suspect that Danny Glover's CV no longer mentions this film. The one good thing about it, though, is that Arnie was smart enough not to have been in it; I doubt even him could have saved it. :#

3)Mikey- I don't mind horror films and there are some horror films which I even love, Mikey is not one of them, Rather it is an unpleasant shower-inducing piece of trash which has caused me to seriously regret the hour and half I lost watching it. X-( This is a film which makes the Saw and Hostel films look like works from Hitchcock, Romero, Hooper and Craven.

4)Drop Dead Fred- This may very be the worst film I have ever seen. What makes it so terrible is that it scares the living daylights out of me, and it's not even a horror film! :s The one thing that scares me more than anything else (more than suffering a brutal death even) is the idea of being humiliated in public. That is essentially what Drop Dead Fred is about. A woman is constantly being humiliated, and we're meant to find this funny? :s I think this is a horrible film which was made by a sadist who gets off on the humiliation of the main character and the horror of the viewer. :#

(Drop Dead Fred is also my all-time least-favourite film. X-()

When I first saw drop dead fred, which must have been when I was about 10. I thought it was hilarious. When I watched it a few years ago, I didn't find it nearly as funny. But theres no way it's the worst film ever.

To be fair, Robocop 3 is a lot worse than Robocop 2. There's some okay stuff in the 2nd one. Weller's performance when OCP change his programming is pretty funny. RC3 is just awful.

I'll throw Batman & Robin (1997) in there, additionally. One of the obvious choices, you might say.

And Dan, I think you're taking Drop Dead Fred too seriously! I've always found it side-achingly funny. I guess Rik Mayall isn't for everyone.

My problem with it is that it scares the hell out of me. :s I love comedies, and I don't even mind bad comedies, but I prefer the comedies I see to be funny, instead of scary. ;)

RoboCop 3 isn't great, especially since it's basically a kid's film, but I think it is entertaining. However RoboCop 2 is IMO really ugly and quite unpleasant. Apart from the fact that it's a sequel to one of my all-time favourite films, I think it's a really nasty film. It's a film which I can never bear to watch. :#

I think it's worth pointing out that cheese is not neccesarily a bad thing. Neither is low budget & special effects. For some of us, heaping slices of velveeta goodness, old school matte paintings, and model miniatures are like manna from heaven to our craving palate. If you immerse yourself into the adventure and have the right frame of mind.

The worst thing a movie can do isn't to be cheaply made, or crappily written, but to be boring. To me, that's the unpardonable kiss of death. It's the reason I'll never agree with people who claim that Ed Wood was the "worst director of all time", or that the original War Of The Worlds, had "corny space ships". They used the tools of their time and they put a helluva lot of preparation and hard work into these productions. In many ways, the structure and ambience of these B movies are superior to many of the As of today.

Today's movies are almost like an Ipod, cherry picking the hit tunes in shuffle order. Classic movies are more like vinyl, where the order and placement of songs created a moody and cohesive adventure.

I really don't like Pirates of the Carribean 3. I enjoyed the first one, and the second one was pretty good too but I cringed at the end when it showed that there would have to be a third one. I tend to find that many films' third film isn't as good. There are several exceptions but it's what I generally tend to find.
Pirates 3 dragged on and on and on and by the end I just didn't care anymore. I didn't liek the ending either.

Something that I'd have though many people would disagree with is that I love Flash Gordan. For me though it can't be taken seriously. It's so ridiculous it's funny and I love the soundtrack. :D
    Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{

seen loads that are far worse than everything mentioned in this thread so far....
three examples, the last one (Buckaroo Banzai) having the distinction of being the only film i ever walked out of from the Cinema.

    1. Marabunta-Legion of Fire, KIllerants!

    2.Antropophagus
    link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082479/
stands for pretty every crap film Joe D'Amato ever did, probably even worse is everything Jim Wynorski ever did. Just look at the mans œuvre:

    3.The famous Buckaroo Banzai

I had a friend at college who used to rave about Buckaroo Banzai. I finally saw it a couple of years ago and was, huh? It is terrible. But there is one moment that prevents it from being the worst film ever made, when Peter Weller sings to Ellen Barkin.

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=h3BCtSOujao

There's a similar movie from this period that's even worse. It's called Radioactive Dreams, and it's about two guys who have grown up in a bomb fallout shelter, after a nuclear holocaust. When they return to the world, they take on the personas of the hard-boiled detectives they read about as they grew up. Except they're idiots. Michael Dudikoff stars before American Ninja made him not really famous at all.

Would it be remiss of me to mention that I've a few Wynorski movies in my collection? ;) I agree the man's stuff is pretty terrible but I am a fan of some of his late 80s output. Notably the remake of Not Of This Earth and Big Bad Mama II (both produced by Roger Corman)

He totally ruined Vampirella though. A ripe Roger Daltry and Talisa Soto in a plastic ensemble does not a Vampi movie make. What a missed oppurtunity.

I liked D'amato's Emmanuelle in America, guess that tells you a little about my ideas of entertainment ;)

Alex I fully understand where your coming from, i do enjoy watching a lot of 'bad' movies just because they are so bad, far less boring hen some mediocre movie.
I'm also a fan of sexy ladies in B-Productions, as well as hilariously cheap special effects in some Productions, every time i'm watching some of them i hope to discover another 'Leprechaun'(think that's the one with Jennifer Aniston), as far as Emanuelle goes, i kinda liked the first one, even though i can't stand Patrick Bauchau, didn't like him in Emanuelle nor in AVTAK, he also managed to diminish my enjoyment of the otherwise excellent series 'Carnivale'.

Haven't seen that one. But I think Emmanuelle 2 is one of the best films of the 70's. It's seriously underrated. There's a dream-like atmosphere to it. And as well as Sylvia Kristel, there's also an early appearance by Laura Gemser, who went on to star in the Italian-made unofficial sequels. Of those I've only seen Black Emanuelle, which was entertaining, if not a masterpiece like E2. The one I really want to see is Emanuelle and the Cannibals.

I saw a movie called All the Kings Men on Sky the other night. Sean Penn is one of the most self-regarding actors around, but he has all the charisma of a tent-pole. He's completely miscast as a politician who can command a stage and enrapture a crowd of onlookers with his speeches. Watching him doing a mock Southern accent and prancing about a stage is truly painful. Combine that with the casting of Jude Law, the acting equivalent of The Invisible Man, and you have a truly pathetic movie.

I agree with you about Catwoman. What's worse is, I saw this film when I was on holiday with my brother in London (on his request) so thanks to the British/Australian Exchange Rate, I effectively paid 3 times the price to see the film. Bah Humbug!

    probably Citizen Kane.........just kidding:p

It's funny you should say that. I really don't like Citizen Kane. I hold back full judgement though as I didn't see it all (I fell asleep). But I don't think i have ever been as bored watching a film up until I dozed off.

My contender for worst film of all time is Junior with Arnold Schwarzenegger
1- On Her Majesty's Secret Service 2- Casino Royale 3- Licence To Kill 4- Goldeneye 5- From Russia With Love

    How about Atonement

Award-hunting, middlebrow, crap that will almost certainly be nominated for an Academy Award for best picture. This is a film for people who look down on cinema and only go to a film if it's considered classy, and I use the term as an insult. Do not believe the hype. This is bilge.
