Yeah, I'll still wait for the official press annoucement. After all, Mads Mikkleson wasnt annouced until after production began

I know nothing about him...but it seems as if he might have a bit of talent, which can't hurt---and neither can a bit of Oscar 'buzz' during production...perhaps we have Vesper's 'French-Algerian' boyfriend, here...

Or not. Either way...we're getting there... :D

There is no reason to doubt this - after all it's reported by FOX News.

Anyway, the man looks like this:

IMDB only has his CV of films

Put me in the "I'll-Believe-It-When-I-Hear-It-From-Mickey-and-Babs's-Own-Lips" department. I'll say this, though: the guy looks creepy in a Eurotrash kind of way, so there could be some truth to his being in the movie.

You're right about that. He's got Bond Villain written all over him...

The Fox article jogged my memory---I remember him from Munich as Michael Lonsdale's son.

This is the first I've heard of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly...but anybody who can garner praise for playing a paralysis victim is certainly worth consideration, IMO.

So he was in a film with Daniel Craig, playing Hugo Drax's son? Does Munich beat Ronin in the Bond Movie trump game yet? ;)

I'm trying to remember that; I can't even remember Michel Lonsdale in it, to be honest. I'll have to dig it out.

Lonsdale's part in Munich was pretty small, really---he played an arms dealer who (if I remember correctly) helped procure some of the 'tools' used by the Mossad assassins---and Amalric's was even smaller. What made this scene memorable was the sense of quiet, understated menace that both Lonsdale and Amalric conveyed: dangerous men living a dangerous life.

I dunno, Ronin was made after they were Bond characters, not before.

Amalric was very good in Munich as I remember. Apparently he was better known as a director until recently. Definately has the looks and charm to be believable as someone Vesper could fall for. Amalric has an interesting French/Polish/Jewish background so he should look convincing as being French/Algerian (not some dark swarthy middle eastern stereotype). Most importantly, EON continues to cast quality actors in the new Bond films.
