Casino Royale John Lobb shoes

I was visiting the Charles Tyrwhitt website today and noticed that their derby shoes have a striking resemblance to the John Lobb shoes that Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale. They also are on sale for $295. They are usually $495 according to the site. I'll probably be taking a flyer on these. They looked pretty nice.

Mantis...good question. I didn't think about that. Here is the link to the shoes in question:

The photo they show does not show an angle where you can see the sole color. The other shoes they feature in black calf seem to have natural or tan colored soles. Did the original John Lobb shoes have tan or black soles?

On another note...is it imperative when doing black tie to have patent leather shoes or is a simple black shoe acceptable?

I just checked the link I pasted and it only goes to the home page. Just click "Shoes" at the top of the menu and then go to the bottom of the shoe page where you'll see the Derby shoes. I think they're pretty darn close...but alas I was too lazy to plug in my CR DVD to check out the sole color or the original screen seen shoes...maybe I'll pop it in this evening.

My personal preference on a black shoe would be for a black sole.
