Sorry if this has been posted before - but I couldn't see it so here's the press release:

Aston Martin DBS to star in new James Bond filmGaydon, December 10th 2007: Aston Martin announced today that their new flagship model, the DBS, will once again be driven by James Bond (DANIEL CRAIG) in the next 007 film to be produced by Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for EON Productions, and directed by Marc Forster.

The Aston Martin DBS made its first public appearance in Casino Royale when it smashed its way into the Guinness World Record books for ‘The Most Cannon Rolls In A Car’. The record-breaking stunt saw stuntman Adam Kirley taking the helm of Bond’s famous Aston Martin. The stunt proved one of the most spectacular in movie history when he rolled the DBS an amazing seven times.

Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez, said: “Aston Martin is proud of our long association with James Bond. The DBS has its own unique character which equals that of James Bond. It is explosive power in a black tie. It is the perfect car for James Bond as it delivers the complete driving experience and bridges the gap between our road and track cars – the DB9 and DBR9. It is equally at home on a twisting mountain circuit as on the open road and we are all very excited at the prospect of seeing it on the big screen again.”

BOND 22 (working title) is scheduled for international theatrical release in November 2008.

    And Brozzer used them well {[] But I'm very glad that Bond's long-term relationship with Aston Martin will continue.

    I just hope he gets to have a bit more fun with it this time round... :007)

    Bond's a lad...and so it is to be expected that he'll thrash a car or 2 around....but it's sickening when that lovely car is turned to mince...not good! :D

    I don't want to give anything away for those that might not want to know but if you read:

    There's a small mention of how the DBS might feature in the film.

    I for one think it's an excellent car and having seen 2 of them in the flesh outside the Casino Royale premier and in Harrods I can't wait to see what happens in Bond 22

    This is interesting because, as many of you will know, Ford no longer owns Aston. I think Ford's original deal was for three pictures, starting with DAD, so EON are back to walking that tricky tightrope they did with the BMW deal: everyone wants to see Bond in an Aston yet there's a real need to satisfy the main sponsor.

    BMW famously became all stroppy about the use of the DB5 and eventually asked for scenes featuring the Aston (specifically the funeral in TWINE) to be removed as the clapped-out, dressed-up classics were gaining far more kudos than their own premium products, supplied at huge expense.

    Presumably EON are going to have to do as they did for TLD and Goldeneye: buy their own second-hand Astons (DB9s?) and dress them up to look like the latest model... not too hard as this is what effectively happened in Casino Royale. Unless the new owners are cash-rich enough to supply at least three new, £160,000 cars.

    Where does this leave Ford? I'd be surprised if they'd be happy with a limited role, supplying the extras and background vehicles, so might we see Bond or the main villain in another premium Ford product? Land/Range Rovers are out as they're on the brink of a sale: another red Mustang? Ford GT anyone?

    I believe that although they sold their majority share in the company Ford do still own a percentage of Aston Martin - and I would guess that it's enought to give them the power to stick to the 3 picture deal that started with Die Another Day.

    Er...no; if they were doing it without Aston Martin's involvement, how come there's a press release on Aston's website? I think it's more likely that it's just an extension of the previous deal- Ford still own a bit of Aston, and I'd imagine that Eon would probably write in any future contract that 'we'll have your cars everywhere, except Bond will drive an Aston Martin, no matter what' to save on any issues.

    The TLD Aston belonged to Victor Gauntlett, owner of Aston Martin, by the way. Hardly just any old second hand car!

    For espionnage, I prefere a BMW, very good cars or Ford. With an Aston Martin, you're immediatly in the line of fire. Just my opinion.-{
