Predict QOS box office

While I think QOS will end up being a slightly better Bond film than CR (whatever that means, but I'll stand by it FWIW {:) ), I don't think it'll make quite as much as CR did, for the reason I thought CR would so rake it in: the love story. QOS doesn't seem to have that, at least not a classic-styled one like CR captured with Craig and Green. Maybe the more action-driven QOS will surprise me, and surpass CR's take? Nah, love stories trump all, except penguins. ;) :p

Thoughts?

I predict a Goldfinger - Thunderball here. Everybody saw and loved CR, and told more people to see it, so everyone will see QOS. Whether or not it is as good a film will be seen, and then I think that will affect the next film's take.

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing on the fanboards. Maybe it's just my natural "expect the worst but hope for the best" outlook? Worst being not quite as much as CR, best being...that GF-to-TB rise? That'd be pretty dang awesome, just don't think this era will quite make that happen. Plus, no bigtime love story...

I think it was the Craig controversy and the popular word of mouth that made CR popular more than the existence of a love story within it.

Oh yeah, definately. But how it hung around and got that late repeat/second run business that extended its $$$ numbers, that's dateland stuff. And women (as we all know) rule. And, demographically speaking, prefer love stories over actioners. :x

My prediction is, it'll make about 10 million more than CR. No more, no less. I'm not sure what the final box office take was for CR worldwide. But I stand by my prediction.

I think with the overwhelming success that CR had, there will be more people showing up for QoS, plus the big female fan base DC has now got, will see a lot more woman going along with BF's and husbands. I think woman like a good film (rather than just because it's a love story) and because now the bond franchise has gone for story and good dialogue, with brilliant acting, it now appeals to a much wider audience.

I think it will top CR comfortably. (Which rocks, as DC will then continue in the role :x)

It's hard to say. Until we grow closer to release and we see how the film is promoted, it's difficult to gauge how general 'non-Bond-fan' audiences will respond.

Honestly (and it is early) I haven't seen or heard anything about QoS that makes me think 'I gotta see this movie' but, again, nothing promotional has been released (except for the teaser poster which I have already made comments on in another thread).

The worldwide total for Casino Royale was US$594,239,066. I reckon Quantum of Solace will exceed this total, although I have not a clue by how much.

I couldn't possibly guess how it will do*...but everything I've seen and heard about this film screams 'must see!' This is a new era, with a segment of audience relatively new to Bond, I think.

As the departed benskelly was so fond of saying, #22 will be a referendum on the Craig-Bond Era---and I'm feeling pretty confident overall.

    * Okay, I'll guess... :D I'd say within $20 million, over or under, world-wide gross. I certainly hope that proves to be a pessimistic estimate...

I'd go with that Loeff, maybe a bit less, maybe a bit more sounds about right I guess. Just remembering, if we'd gone by the fanboy majority prediction for CR, it would've bombed. :D I think we're biased, so my take is more on general audience-type guessing than ooh it's a Bond film. But yeah, I might well be off-base with that, the many high-end posts in this thread by everybody about have me convinced. {[]
