Loeffelholz Brothers in L.A....

LoeffelholzLoeffelholz The United States, With LovePosts: 8,994Quartermasters
Just a heads-up for any AJB members in the greater Los Angeles, California area...

I'm flying out to L.A. on 22nd May to spend six days with my brother, and do a bit of development work on a project with some prospects out there...if there are any AJBers within a reasonable distance of Hollywood, specifically, let me know. It would be great to get together B-)

On 22nd May, Another Loeff and I will be attending a screening of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull at the Cineramadome on Sunset Blvd...TonyDP will be interested to hear that when 2001 came out, this particular cinema was handpicked by Stanley Kubrick for the premiere...

I'll be posting while I'm out there, with (hopefully) photos...if you're in L.A., or can get there, let's have a Western AJB Summit {[]

Once again I must state my disapointment for being to far north to have a western summit. Oh, Go Cardinals. I hope they sweep the Dodgers. :D

    Go Giants :p

Seriously, though...no AJBers in Los Angeles? And there are two (Tee Hee and myself) in Springfield, Illinois? :o What are the odds?

Will post some photos later {[]

It's a shame there's no other AJBers in LA. But hey, your going to Chavez Ravine (I'm sure the new Busch is 10,000 times better) to seee your Cardinals beat the Dodgers (or at least I hope that's what happens). Enjoy the games!

Well...I'm back in the Midwest :# Thought I'd share a few shots; more to come once I get an email from Another Loeff...

First of all, here's the view coming out of my brother's driveway, and looking to the right:

Here are a couple of points of interest on Hollywood Blvd...the first one is just across the street from the Chinese Theatre, and a couple of doors down from the local Hooters :v ...

    hollywood08004hm4.jpg

This next one, is, ironically, the only Bond actor I found on the Walk of Fame---although, admittedly, I wasn't able to cover the entire area. Still, for my friend in Chicago ;) here it is...

Loeff, after seeing your incognito shots, I could picture you with a white cat in your lap and your face hidden ;). You may have a future as a Bond villain. And sometimes, that's better than being Bond.

So did the Dodger fans give you a bad time? Where did you sit at Chavez Ravine? And most importantly, did the Cards win the game you went to (that would be Saturdays game, I think the Cards lostt Sunday)?

I've got a great story for you...Another Loeff and I sat at the All You Can Eat Pavilion, which is the right field bleachers. For the first couple of innings, we were fine---the only two guys in our row. Then the rest of the row showed up: Five guys, each weighing over 250 pounds! :# We were crammed into the row; I was on the aisle, so only about half of my butt was on the bench :s

A uniformed stadium security guy came up and asked my brother and I if we wanted to move to another section in right field, and we accepted his offer with thanks...

As we stood up to move, a group of particularly drunken Dodgers fans---who'd been heaping abuse upon us for the duration of the game (one of them looked just like Stifler from 'American Pie' :)) ) made a dig at my last name (proudly displayed as you see above on my Cardinal Jersey :D ).

I turned and remarked, "Great game last night!" (since the Cardinals had won), took off my hat and waved it---and it was then that all Hell broke loose...

The ENTIRE RIGHT FIELD BLEACHERS began to scream and boo at Another Loeff and myself, throwing peanuts, shouting obscenities---so, naturally I kept waving my hat, and so did my brother; we were quite literally the villains of the moment. I added the patented Queen Elizabeth-style wave with the other hand...and very soon we had a three-person security detail escorting us down the aisle. The chaos grew so loud that everyone in the stadium must have been wondering what the hell was going on in right field :))

It was terrifying, and brutally exhilarating. Scattered handfuls of fellow Cardinal fans reached out for us as we passed, and we exchanged 'high fives.' By the time we got to our new seats, we couldn't stop grinning, and the adrenalin buzz lasted for the rest of the night. My brother, an actor, said jubilantly: "I've never been booed before in my life!" We both agreed that, given the context, it was one of the greatest single moments of our lives :D

Later, upon reflection, we figured that the crowd must have thought we were being ejected for misbehaviour---hence the jeering. Little did they know B-)

Oh, and yes---the St. Louis Cardinals won, 4-0, securing the three-game series. Too bad they couldn't have swept the Evil Dodgers :#

    :D

Loeffelholz, sorry to say that I used to be in LA, lived there for practically all my life until about a year ago when I moved down here to New Zealand.

would've loved to hang out and show you around the ole' stomping grounds. looks like you enjoyed yourself though. good shots on hollywood blvd. did you see connery's? there's a shop on hollywood blvd. that has a whole bunch of bond stuff in it, I can't remember the name of it, but it's quality.

grand old dodger stadium, i have had one too many good times at that place rooting for the Giants and getting popcorn, beer, pretzels rocks and bats thrown at me. I love LA! :D
    hope you enjoyed your stay. -{

Oh man. You think rooting for the Giants is fun at Chavez Ravine. Come on up to my stomping grounds and jeer the dodgers at At&T park. You would have so much fun. You want to know what's even funner? Sitting out in the bleachers during any non-dodger game and spotting a fan in a dodger jersey. Oh the fun that we have with him. :v {[] :))

Yeah, I guess you need something fun to do at PacBell (I'll never call it anything else). Certainly can't be fun watching the worst team in baseball -- a bunch of old men backing up the most expensive free agent bust of a pitcher in history. :v :D Oh yeah, and no World Series titles since 1954 -- and 0-for-50 seasons in San Francisco. :p

Back on topic...Loeff, thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. I grew up in Orange County (before it became "the O.C." with "real housewives" 8-)) and spent plenty of time in L.A. My sister-in-law lives in Hancock Park, so I'm still out there with the family at least once a year. My kids never fail to enjoy seeing the Hollywood sign -- how great that Another Loeff has such a cool view of it!

Also, glad to see you made it to Chavez Ravine. Whether or not you're Dodger fan (I am -- see my needling of Martini above) you probably can say that, even almost 50 years after it was built, Dodger Stadium remains about as good a setting for a game as there is (OK OK, PacBell is better). Also, FWIW, I think the Dodgers and Cards have the two best uniforms in baseball -- clean, classic, great colors. Cards get the edge, though -- the birds-on-bat logo is the all-time best.
    Hilly...you old devil!

Enjoyed all your shots Loeffs, but the one with my star is my favorite. :D I get to travel a lot for business, but I amost never sight see, Looks like you had a great trip. I understand you had to do some of your own pitching while in L.A. I hope something works out for you.

BTW, I am a Milwaukee Brewer fan, but my youngest son is a big Cardinal fan. In fact I just came home from his baseball game and I showed him your picture with the Cardinal jersey. Put a big smile on his face.
