states that the Ebeling Group-repped collective MK12, are creating the animated titles for QofS.

I can see why this graphic user interface style of titles is innovative and stylistically interesting, but does it really suit a Bond film, replacing the traditional title sequence?

lets not jump to conclussions - we may see a traditional style opening theme, we may seem one more in tune with casino royale.

I just wonder what happened to Kleinman

MK12 did the opening title sequence for Kite Runner...coincidentally (perhaps?) a Marc Forster film.

Here you can have a look at MK12's other film work.

    Kite Runner - http://youtube.com/watch?v=2itQ5U5XcHM

    Stranger Than Fiction - http://youtube.com/watch?v=XObJUPwJ5u0

I hope we get something like Kite Runner's titles for QofS, as I feel the style used in Stranger Than Fiction is too far removed from Bond tradition.

I REALLY like the Casino Royale titles....

THANKS to SeanConnery007, I was able to check out the You-Tube clips and liked them both.

    QOS is "shaping up nicely"!

I suppose here is where a bit of latent traditionalism rises up within me...the work of MK12 looks very good, to be sure---and I love the retro-animation departure of Kleinman's titles sequence for CR---but I was really looking forward to seeing a more traditional (read: naked lady silhouettes :x ) for QoS.

Granted, we still might, but I don't MK12 has been hired to give us the same old, same old. Not that that's a bad thing, of course, but I really liked what Kleinman did from GE thru CR.

Regardless of what form the QoS titles take---or who does them---I'm sure they will be very cool.

I was actually very impressed with CR's title sequence. It was a departure from tradition, however I felt it worked very well. That said, I would like to return to a more traditional title sequence for QOS. Perhaps even one that is influenced more by the 60's and 70's title sequences than the recent title sequences.

I would prefer they keep the "pouty-lipped", greasy haired models out of the credits. The past title sequences with the strategically shawdowed crotches and breasts are just plain boring nowdays. It's been done to death and it's time for some fresh air!

The 1960's notion of guilt-free sex that the nude models represented is past, and no longer symbolic of the Bond charecter. After all oo7's idea of "guilt-free" intercourse is an evening with someone's wife!

So bring back the "gunbarrel" for the sake of tradition, but lets have something new and different for the credits!

If they have to do nudes, then borrow some clips of Eva Green from "The Dreamers", and work those in ...... ;)

Well, he is Bond afterall. :p :D I think that Bond can still indulge in guilt-free sex; afterall why should it concern him if his lover is married or not? :v (Although to be fair, in the past decade, I think he has slept with only two married women, assuming of course he slept with Solange at all.)

Just watched their showreel; they're a very talented bunch- can't wait to see what they come up with. Personally I'll be hoping for more innovation; I love a nice graphical title sequence. The CR one was nicely original, I'm hoping for another original approach.

Of course if they're replacing Kleinman altogether that means that they'll be designing the new gunbarrel...
  • 72897289 Beau DesertPosts: 1,691MI6 Agent
    Dan,

I'd say for Bond ALL sex is guilt free! Even with married women. Bond seems quite a tame dog compared with his creator.

A new gunbarrel would be nice. The last one featured too many lands and grooves to be a real pistol. Prehaps this new team can actually pull out a real gun and look down the barrel. I don't think that's been done since old Maurice and his pinhole camera where on the staff.

Again it is pretty cheeky of Mike and Babs to drop Kleinman (if they did) shows they are not afraid to tinker ... another good omen!

    just a quick update:

    http://news.awn.com/index.php?ltype=top&newsitem_no=24147

The studio just wrapped a four-day shoot at Pinewood Studios, directed by Simon Chaudoir. MK12 is also in charge of developing, designing and animating the graphical interfaces throughout the film.

Those designs will be used for the foundation for the cinematics in Activision's upcoming QUANTUM OF SOLACE game, due out around the same time as the film (November 7). MK12 is designing the game's title sequence with Zoic Studios.

I imagine this is the sort of thing MK12 is producing for QofS:

It's a shame Kleinman is out the picture now.
Though I hope we do get a traditional gunbarrel sequence and not a MK12 'revived' one.

Though I hope we do get a traditional gunbarrel sequence.
I also hope we see a traditional gunbarrel, but by that I mean the type of barrel seen from 1962-1989. I didn't care for the Brosnan barrel at all; it's too clean and shiny.

PS the dancing girls are back again in the new title sequence. My source? Of course I'm not telling you.

Please, ask your source about the gunbarrel too! the original, the black and white, bob simmons´ style.

Yes, please do. I really hope the traditional gunbarrel sequence returns with no tinkering.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. The bar is raised quite high with CR's splendid sequence.

So was Kleinman put out of a job or just shunted for this project because Forster liked his experience with MK12?

I'd guess it's the latter; MK12 has done other titles for Forster's films, and he probably wanted to bring them along.

I certainly hope Kleinman comes back for #23; I enjoy all of his Bond titles.

I'm going to venture a presumption that no there will not be anything passing by the screen of a nippid nature if the picture is to maintain a lower-than-Restricted rating. :v

    I loved the title sequence!
About time someone ditched the Helvetica font in favour of a completely new one. The fact that the type was actually animated as well as the girls and Bond rocked too. Well done MK12, a great effort that Saul Bass, and Maurice Binder would have been proud of.

    Daniel who.....?

The typography was great, but I thought the imagery was a bit old hat. Just standard Bond stuff really- nothing caught my attention particuarly. There was a simple, straightforward hook as there was with Casino Royale.

I like how the titles can be either too Bond-like, or not Bong-like enough!

I think they got it just about right. I liked them.

That works for me! I only want/expect the titles to do their job, and look good. It's always interesting to see what they've cooked up.

I must say that this Title Sequence was the worst in Bond history, it is maybe beautiful created but nothing happened and it's way too un-Bond...and don't get me started on that worse font!

In the last title sequences there always was a theme of the movie in it, like the oil in TWINE and the poker in the CR, nothing happened in the titles of QoS (like in the rest of the movie!)

How can they be so wrong?

Well, I think you must be the first to say that! The main crit I've read of QoS is that too much happens.

Like the movie they're fine but just don't have a key idea that makes them stick in the memory. They just sort of wash over you with some Bondy poses, pictures of men with guns, sandy women... it's old hat. Title sequences should make you sit up and pay attention, not make you think that you've seen it all before.
