I went out and got a 40" Plasma for our basement---what our family calls the "Man-Cave" :)) I'm trying to decide which Bond to watch to properly initiate the new Samsung... :D

Well when we got our 40" LCD Samsung...I have to say the first person to grace our screen was of course DC in Casino Royale....-{ (and I've just watched it on Blue Ray...blimey, what a difference....just trying to convince the husband that we need a Blue Ray player now....)

    I've got a 32" brick that cost £450!
Oh well, that was then and this is now we may soon upgrade and get a 45", HD ready, plasma though. I wonder which film should grace the screen first?

You know I'm one of them as well, Dan. TMWTGG is Loeff Jr.'s favourite film, and we all love singing along to the theme. Is it silly? Certainly. But it's also one hell of a lot of fun B-)

Granted, TMWTGG's theme song is silly and fun...but not Oscar/Grammy worthy whatsoever. It did give me and my wife some good laughs though.

For the big plasma screen, go with a newer Bond movie, probably CR or Goldeneye.

Anyways, we continue watching our Bond films on the 17" computer screen :# and now have made it through TSWLM. This film moved up on my favourites after watching it again. It was, for a while, one of my favourite films (back when I was a massive Moore Bond fan...before reading the books). I definitely did like it a lot more this time around and I think it moved up to no. 11 or 12 on my list. I enjoyed Moore in this film, he really was Bond throughout the film. Plus I loved Jaws, what a fine fine villian. The relationship with Major Amasova was also interesting and piqued my interest even though I knew what was going to happen. I even enjoyed the 1970's computer Bond music, it added to the action. The only things that bugged me were Stromberg's character (don't ask me why, he just grinds on my nerves...maybe it's that shash red silk tie in the final sequences :(|)), the fact that it departed so far from the book, the slightly over the top fighting sequences aboard the ship (a la YOLT) and finally the Barbie dolls in the boat as it ejects from the ship when Stromberg escapes with Anya (ridiculous).

Also, could anyone tell me why they let the Russian seamen go down with the ship? What heartless brutes those Americans and British! :))

Just finished FYEO - I really really enjoyed that film! It was very believable (compared to Moonrakers star-wars galatic battle) but I missed Jaws. Although there were enough REAL sharks in FYEO!!! I have a thing for sharks though - I really like them and they take a long time to reproduce (much like whales). So it makes me sad when so many films portray sharks in a bad light (like eating humans every chance they get) because it only increases fear of sharks. But I digress.

The other cool thing about FYEO - an old professor at our university once preached at a Lutheran church in Laguna Beach, CA and actually preached to Bebe (the ice skater chick)! A Lutheran Bond girl - sweet as!{[] Us Lutheran chicks kick ass!

I liked 2/3rds of Moonraker - the end got to be a bit much for my tastes though. But I did like how Jaws and Bond became buddy-buddy. :D

I'm beginning to find myself quite enjoying Bond. Which is sad because now I won't be able to make fun of my husband as much as I used to about his Bond obession. :p

Well, its certainly been a while since we last posted our progress. We have moved well past FYEO and just finished Living Daylights. We only have six more films to go before the big QoS premiere. My wife enjoyed some of the farce of the later Moore films, and is not a big fan of Dalton...whatsoever.

I however, liked Living Daylights more than I had in the past. Dalton is certainly not my favourite, I would have to agree with my wife on most of her points, yet I couldn't help but admire some of the elements of LD. I enjoyed most of the music, Dalton's treatment of the relationship between him and Kara, the storyline was good enough with plenty of turns, the reality of a spy's dirty job (death and using others e.g. Pushkin's mistress) and some of the stunts.

Yet, I must say that Dalton's tenure (although a marked improvement over Moore's final attempts) are not the highlight of the series. I am looking forward to moving past LTK and onto Goldeneye, a solid Bond film that is very enjoyable. Then it's past the rest of the Brosnan era, which I must say is not a great time period for me. Finally, CR on 26 November, the night before the NZ release of QoS. The Bond party is in its beginning stages, the plan is of course to have martinis etc. We will see what comes of it. :007)

Hopefully my wife will log on to let you know what she thinks and to update her favourites. Until next time, we'll see you!

Well, it has been tooooooo long. We are working our way through TWINE right now. My wife loves Pierce Brosnan as Bond, thinks he is the perfect combo. I like the guy, I just think he could've gotten some much better scripts to work with. We have a fortnight until Bond is released here in New Zealand and only have two more films to go after this one. We have a Bond party on Wednesday 26 Nov. featuring CR, so we have plenty of time to get the other one (you know which one I speak of) done. Here's to ruining my wife's love of Brozzers.

By the way, did anyone see Mamma Mia. It was great to see Pierce sing his heart out. I would love to see DC do a musical after Bond. I'm thinking maybe Fiddler on the Roof?

I too had my own marathon. Started with Dr. No and went on from there. I got tripped up with work during my Moore stretch and it took me a week and a half to get through them. Fortunately, I compensated by watching all the Brosnans in one day, so that put me right back on track to watch QOS the day after I watched CR.

yeah, we've stretched it out over a long period of time. it's easier for my wife that way :) we have DAD left to watch and then CR at our QOS release party next week. I can't wait for next Thursday...it can't come soon enough!

Well, we didn't quite finish DAD (that's alright, we'd seen it before) and CR cut it close...but the marathon came to a close on Wednesday (with an appropriate Bond party with chemin de fer, 007 scene it and CR to close...all with martinis shaken not stirred). QoS soon followed the next evening and it was splendid. I will post some pictures of our party as well as the premeire. Great stuff, enjoyed QoS - although my wife disagrees. I've officially made her a Bond fan. She was critiquing QoS according to her experiences with all the other films...I love it. :v

She sounds like all of us on here now. 8-)

Thanks to those who followed along with our progres, hopefully my wife will check in and leave her own comment soon enough.

Well that's good to read, because I've got absolutely no hope whatsoever of getting my girlfriend to sit through twenty-one Bond movies. She'd fall asleep, become distracted, or down-right refuse to watch them.
The only way she'd agree to it is if I watched all of her vast collection of Doris Day films, and I sure as hell ain't doin' that!
  • youknowmynameyouknowmyname Gainesville, FL, USAPosts: 703MI6 Agent
    LOL! :)) Doris Day, damn that would be tough. the only deal I had was that we would watch Sex and the City...I can deal with it. But I can damn sure count on the fact that I won't become as big as a Sex in the City fan as my wife is a Bond fan. -{
