QoS's stroke of genius?

Casino Royale is often credited with one of the greatest and unconventional castings in cinema history. So often have I read that CR's stroke of genius is the casting of Daniel Craig.

So what about Quantum of Solace? The newly-released trailer looks fantastic, with suberb action and some nice signs of substance. Olga Kurylenko looks to be great in her role as Camille, delivering her lines with vulnerability and anger but not, seemingly, over the top. The action looks top-notch, a step-up from Casino Royale, and most certainly *whispers* Bourne...

But one of the biggest talking-points amongst fans was the hiring of Marc Forster. His experience in the action realm was, we know, quite limited, as he's more known for his character-driven pieces.

Could it be that Forster is QoS's Daniel Craig? Admittedly not as 'big news' as Craig, but certainly amongst fans - he started off as the 'unlikely choice' - perhaps even the underdog. And could Forster be the stroke of genius raising the bar once again for the series?

When watching the trailer...all I could think about is movies like Moonraker, TMWTGG and how BAD bad and different they are for the "New Bond Direction.

I think you're right, IEU2D---the fact that Forster's background is in character rather than action might just be this film's 'secret weapon.' The Second Unit helped out with the action, I'm sure, but I read an interview with Forster that was quite telling: He said (paraphrasing) that it's actually much more difficult to write action than it is to film it---if the concept makes it onto the page effectively, it takes pressure off the director when it comes time to capture it on film, since the blueprint is already there.

I continue to be resistant to the notion that the action is "all about Bourne"...though to be fair the camera work seems to give it a kinetic flow that the Bourne's certainly did so well---the 'subjective perspective' puts us in the middle of the mayhem, and IMRO that's a good thing. So if one of Bond's countless cinematic children is responsible...thanks Jason!
