David Arnold Eyes 'The Killers' for Bond 23 Theme Song

James Bond soundtrack composer David Arnold has revealed he is keen to work with the Killers for a future film in the blockbuster series. In an interview with Q Radio, the soundtrack maestro said the production team were “very fortunate” to get Jack White with the theme for A Quantum Of Solace - Another Way To Die - on which The Raconteurs and White Stripes stars performs with Alicia Keys. The composer said he had made early enquiries with The Killers a couple of years ago about working on a Bond theme and he would love to revive the idea. “We were talking around about the time of Casino Royale ... at that time they were working on their second album in Las Vegas. I always feel to a certain extent that when you're choosing an artist for a Bond movie, you're trying to find someone that could almost be in the film & belong to that world, and I think they certainly do. They've done amazing records,” he told presenter Paul Rees.

The score for Quantum was simply atrocious, nothing outstanding whatsoever, they should get rid of David Arnold. I actually liked his work in Goldeneye and thought the opening gunbarrel was really cool while many people dislike it but I can't trust him after Quantum.
As for the Killers, meh I don't like them that much, I don't like how they mechanise their voices in their songs.

Hate to be the one to tell you, but Arnold didn't do Goldeneye - it was Eric Serra (and FWIW I thought he did an appalling job - the score's the worst thing about the film as far as I'm concerned).

As for Quantum, I agree the score was nothing special, but I hesitate to blame Arnold, who I thought produced his best score so far with CR. I read that (like Barry) he usually scores to particular scenes, so that the music matches the action or the scenery or whatever. But this time he did it blind. Forster asked him to write a score and said he would fit it to the film himself. And I don't think Forster did it very well. That's a whole different discussion, though. The Killers? Yeah, I've got their CDs but nothing they've done suggests to me they've got a Bond song in them. Whilst I quite like them, they're basically pretty much 80s rip-off merchants. Which is probably why I quite like them. But for Bond? Wrong, wrong, wrong.

I think it's too early to take seriously any rumours about an act to perform the theme for any future Bond film...

Oops! Well I normally know I like a bond score if the music stands out to me, unfortunately absolutely nothing stood out in the entire film musically wise. The score has to be good fitted into the film not just on CD, its a pity Marc Foster didn't let him score freely or it might have been a little better.
