Review: Read No Further Unless You've Seen It it.

I've just seen QoS and I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. This film is a let down on several levels and while it has some highly ejoyable moments, it simply does not match the the first. The Bourne-style action scenes with quick, jerky, camera work is confusing. We're supposed to feel caught up in the action as if it's happening around us but I found it confusing and headache inducing. Don't turn Bond into Bourne. There is no tension, no mystery, very little suspense. The scenes between Greene/Camille/Medrano in the early part of the film make no sense at all. Camille attempts to woo or seduce Greene and he's obviously on to her. He even tells her so. Then they just walk through the scene without any real conviction. Mr. White's fate remains a mystery unless something happened to him at the opera that I missed. Agent Field's fate was, I suppose, an homage to Goldfinger.
M's change of attitude is not explained. She doesn't trust Bond and then suddenly she does.
The ending with Bond walking off in the snow and the fadeout to the gunbarrel is weak.
On the plus side, Bond does not sleep with Camille. It's refreshing to see a Bond, leading lady relationship not based on sex.
Daniel Craig's performance is strong, given the material, but the rest of the cast seems to be slogging through their lines as if they were bored by the whole thing.
Greene is simply not a convincing villain. Oily, badly dressed, bad teeth, not very bright.
He might make a good henchman of the cowardly, secretarial type but he's not much of a main villain. Elvis, the Chief of Police and the assorted thugs around Greene are barely worth mentioning.
This film contains more vulgar language than any Bond film I can remember and it's disconcerting.
Bond's world is anything but vulgar.
Though there are some enjoyable moments in the film and I will add it to my collection, I am let down.
I hope Bond 23 will return to the style of Casino Royale.
WE deserve better than this Quantum of Bond.:(
