LALD and Moonraker

Without giving too much away are the Ian Fleming novels (Live and Let Die and Moonraker) better than the film adaptations? Because quite frankly I didn't like Roger Moore's first Bond film (LALD) or any of his other Bond films for that matter.

The reason why I bought the Casino Royale novel is because I liked the 2006 movie and I wanted to see how close the film was to the novel and it was pretty close. {[]

Without question the books are far superior, in my own humble opinion. LALD, while a bit dated---especially for its racially tinged portrayal of blacks---is an outstanding Bond adventure...and very violent B-) There are some isolated elements from the novel which still haven't been used by any film; I hope Eon gets around to it.

MR is arguably one of the best of the Fleming Bond novels---and more like a film than any of the other novels (with the natural exception of TB, which was based on a screen treatment!)---even though it bears no resemblance whatsoever to the 1979 film. MR is one of my favourite Bond novels.

I strongly recommend you read all of the Fleming Bonds, in the order they were written/released:

GF
FYEO
TB
TSWLM
OHMSS
YOLT
TMWTGG
OP/TLD

There is a wealth of excitement and adventure in these novels. You won't be sorry you made the effort.
