The Canadian Air and Space Museum in Toronto is hosting a talk and booksigning on Saturday, December 12 at 4:00 p.m. by retired Bell Aerospace test pilot William P. Suitor who will recall the development and testing of the rocketbelt in Niagara Falls, New York.

"Bill Suitor is the author of "The Rocketbelt Pilot's Manual" which is the first and only publication that provides a true description of the "nuts and bolts", inside and outside, step-by-step overview of how, and why, a rocket belt works. His new book is published by Apogee Books of Burlington."
"Educated in the Buffalo, New York area, Suitor spent two years at Erie Tech. to become an architect. His studies were interrupted in 1964 by Wendell Moore, a family friend and neighbor who invented the Bell Rocketbelt with, "Hey kid, you want an exciting job?"
"Suitor traveled all over the world for Bell demonstrating the Belts as well as flying and testing numerous versions of personnel rocket powered flying machines including the Pogo, 2 Man Pogo, Reverse Pogo, Flying Chair and Apollo Lunar Pogo from 1964 to 1970. "
"In the classic 1965 James Bond film Thunderball, Suitor doubled for Sean Connery, escaping from a chateau using the Bell Rocketbelt to reach the safety of his Aston Martin DB5 parked outside."
"After leaving Bell, Suitor went to work for Nelson Tyler in Hollywood, California, helping him develop and demonstrate his Rocket Belt. He worked with Nelson until the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984."
An original rocketbelt on-loan from the Niagara Aerospace Museum will be displayed for the evening.
