Not yet, the sale of MGM is not looking good at moment. Over the fan site www.mi6.co.uk several articles have reported that several possible buyers have withdrawn their bids to buy MGM, and MGM is still sorting out how they are going to pay off their mountain of debt to the creditors. Prior to 2010 sales of MGM films on DVD dropped significantly and I have a feeling for those fans who own Blu Ray DVD players, that the remaining nine films not yet on Blu Ray may see a delayed release to retail.
I hope that soon more news comes out, I am getting a little tired not hearing anything concrete from the producers on the status of Bond 23.
I'm certainly more concerned about the status of the Bond films being released on Blu-Ray than I am the status of Bond 23. The film will likely come out relatively unscathed regardless of what happens with MGM. The worst we are really looking at is the possibility of delays. I do wish there was more news about it's current status. Then again, since it's apparently still in pre-production, I doubt that there would be much to say.
With the remaining 9 Bond films yet to be released on Blu-Ray, not only are we looking at delays (GE & TSWLM already delayed since March of '09), but also the possibility of subpar restorations. Lowry did a great job with the restorations of the current Bond Blu-Rays. Hopefully whoever (whether it's MGM or whoever ends up with the rights) releases the remaining Bonds, they continue to use Lowry, or at least produce something of equal quality.
If MGM justs ceases to exist, their piece of Bond will be the first thing scrarfed up by another film company. If EON wanted to they could probably own Bond lock, stock and barrel but I'm sure they would rather have a partner to take on some of the financial burden and distribution. Sony, by all accounts would jump at the opportunity to continue it's involvement in Bond. Sony would probably love to own all of Bond, but despite some of their shortcomings and misteps I believe it would be better for Bond fans if Bond remains primarilly controlled by EON along with a minority production/disribution partner with deep pockets.
MI6 is reporting that the Scott brothers, Sir Ridley and Tony have entered into the MGM bidding. It appears that the brothers would like to run the studio.

Sam Mendes caused astonishment when he announced the end of his marriage to Kate Winslet, which had been seen as one of the most solid in showbusiness. He is now provoking intrigue in his professional life.
Barbara Broccoli, the producer, confirmed to Mandrake recently that Mendes, 44, would be the director of the next James Bond film. Now, I hear that Peter Morgan, the screenwriter of The Queen, who had been announced as one of the writers on the 007 film, is no longer working on the script.
"It is a mystery worthy of a Bond script," says my man with the clapperboard.
A spokesman for the Hollywood studio MGM tells me: "The film-makers say the Morgan / Marber switch is just speculation."

Lowry did a great job with the restorations of the current Bond Blu-Rays. Hopefully whoever (whether it's MGM or whoever ends up with the rights) releases the remaining Bonds, they continue to use Lowry, or at least produce something of equal quality.
Wants the "Closer" writer to do a rewrite apparently.
