Book Cover Designs

Hi y'all,

Here's a link to a selection of Bond book covers I've designed. Most of the titles are there, as well as a number of imaginary ones by "Robert Markham" in the spirit of "what might have been".
Please try not to be too critical - I'm an amateur and I've only been doing this for a couple of months (I didn't even know I had the necessary software) and I'm completely self-taught. Finally I should add that these images have been created purely for fun and no copyright infringement is intended, or should be inferred.

Oh yes and some of them aren't suitable for under 18s.

Nell

I think you did a wonderful job. A few points:

    1) This cover is not appropiate for Casino Royale unless it is a movie tie in which there was none. I would suggest using the "nine of hearts" instead.

    2) Octopussy was not a Novel

Some good stuff! I especially like the "Honeypot" books, and the photographic accompaniment to Doubleshot puts new meaning to double entendre! :v

These covers are brilliant! I'd part with good money - or bad money for that matter - to own these, which I certainly wouldn't have done with any of the recent repackagings.

For goodness sake LN, put this website about to the powers that be! I'm not kidding, whether it's the pulpy fiction types or the nudes, they're the business and if Pan or Penguin or whoever it is wants to shift units, they just couldn't do better than to use these. They are sublime.

By the way the rude ones are on page 4 or 5! :D They're not exactly for over 18s, just not office friendly, it's Page 3 stuff mainly in terms of nudity.

Napoleon, thank you so much for your kind comments. These pics are on my Facebook page as well (http://www.facebook.com/pages/James-Bond-007-Book-Cover-Designs/144825982215742), and none other than Raymond Benson has been in touch to say that he likes them which, as you can imagine, was rather a nice surprise.

Wonderful, wonderful work. Makes you wish some of the imaginary titles actually existed! And knocks spots off many of the real cover designs.

    Nice set of covers.
Not sure about them all, especially the ones where you created titles (Hammerhead is already a Charles Hood title from 1964, The Ambassadors of Death is an old Dr Who episode) but the art work is really good.
I'd like to see full sets, like the Honeypot series, so I can get a feel for an artists overall impression. So where you gave us two lovely black and white mid-body shots for TSWLM and DAF, I was disappointed you didn't provide more.
None the less, good, sexy stuff.

Thanks chrisno1, bit of a belated reply here... I took the titles off the top of my head and didn't think about them much, but I was really pleased with The Ambassadors Of Death which I thought was a great title, and I had no idea it had been used in Dr Who... I guess it must have lodged in my brain some time in the sixties (seventies?) (which is probably the last time I watched Dr Who). Hammerhead, obviously, I've read somewhere but it just sounded good to me. And I thought Sleep When I'm Dead and No Place Like Hell were suitably Flemingesque but to be honest I didn't pay that much attention to the titles, they were just something to put on the covers.

These are really good - but just a word of warning (and I'm only saying this, as I am in the business of book typesetting and book design myself) - GET the permission to use these graphics and artwork..... I know you state that you are not intending any copyright infringement, but, unfortunately - you could be opening up a whole can of worms....

However, if you head over to somewhere like i-stock photo - you can get your hands on loads of images – (you buy i-stock credits).... and then reproduce them to your hearts content.

You know, you could advertise your skill - I'm always looking to outsource cover design..... :v
