I am currently reading Moonraker and was wondering if someone would know the answer to this. In "The Red Telephone" chapter Bond makes a list of items to buy with his earnings, (2) Three diamond clips refers to what exactly? I thought perhaps cufflinks, tie bar, or maybe shirt studs. But I think I am probably wrong.

Another name for a tie bar is a tie clip so I think there is your answer.

No, they are clips for women. He had three married women on the go and those diamond clips were for them. The literary Bond wouldn't wear diamonds, be it in cufflinks or tie clip.
