sequel or stand alone?

This is my first post here.

So I have heard several rumors that bond 23 will be either a sequel to QoS or a stand alone movie. Which would you rather see and why?

I'd rather see the next film as a stand alone feature. I liked the Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace link, but feel it needs to be left alone for a while. Something closer to the previous format would suit - a big set, commando style raid of some kind, a gadget or two, M off of Bond's back for a while etc.

I think you can do a Quantum storyline and have it be quite standalone; this is one of those situations where you can have the best of both worlds. Having established the nefarious organization already, they can roll forward as the did with, say, SPECTRE in TB...

I agree. The next Bond film should be standalone, but the villan should have some affiliation with Quantum.

This is an idea that hadn't crossed my mind yet, and it's a good one. So you suggest breaking up the continuous run created by CR and QoS, but not straying from the Quantum theme. I like it. I think now that we have established bond we should jump ahead in his career and either have Quantum pulling strings throughout the movie or have Quantum be revealed as the mastermind behind whatever challenge Bond faces.

I'm really hoping for a fresh start, no raking over the whole Bond-Vesper business. The gap between movies has been so long we would need flash-backs or lengthy exposition... and would the general moviegoer know or care? QOS was confusing enough...lets move on

Again, I agree. The Vesper story is done. Perhaps a short reference later in the series, but keep it on a minimum. A bit like the visit to Tracy's grave in FYEO or the throwing of the garter in LTK.

I too hope they drop the whole Vesper thing " so much for the Bitch being dead", If the producers keep raking over the coals. By all means keep the Quantum organisation as the Villains group as they don't want to go down the ectremist route of terrorism etc. Lets have Bond having a little Fun ( not too much to keep the gritty realism fans happy, But even in real life people do have some fun ) and get back to each film being a stand alone project.
And please, please stop all the silly and irritating "Homages " to older Bond movies.

I´m hoping as well that it will be more of a stand alone, liked the Casino Royal-QOS link but hope the next one would be more separate.

Since Christensen has stated he is refusing to come back as Mr. White, then he should be dropped and the organization laid to rest. He was just someone runningerrands anyway. The masterminds are still out there. But there are more baddies to struggle. If they do intend to return to Quantum, then the scene eliminating Mr. White from the face of the earth has allready been filmed, and then dropped from the end result of QOS, then that could be used.

Unfortunately, the scene was probably as shitty as most of the film. I still cannot figure out why they had to kill off Mathis. Finally someone to bring new life in a character in the Bond stories. And they take him out in his second movie?! Broccoli should have refused them on that one. And finding someone as good as Giannini for a similar role, I believe is rather impossible. But I guess they have to kill off a few good guys every now and then as well...

The Quantum organization can return, but we need a greedy villain, who is not willing to share his evil plan with others, but rather doing it on his own. Even SPECTRE was getting old by the end of it, but now I miss Ernst... Goldfinger did perform in the SPECTRE era and how about the brilliant masterminds of Drax and Stromberg. They did not intend any other evil genius to rule the world with them...

And it is about time to retire Purvis and Wade!!! It has been so for quite a while... I believe they should have no credit for CR, whatsoever.

Anyway, I believe they should have Bond acting on the information het got out of Greene in QOS in this one. M had already found Vesper's boyfriend for him so I am sure Dominic told him a lot more.

So bring on Guy Haines!

I think it depends on the number of Bond films Daniel Craig is definitely doing. If it is a firm two films, then stand alone like Goldfinger. If one with the option of two or something like that, then finish Quantum. Remember what happened to Brosnan's option of a fifth film...

Brosnan was good, but he was getting old, and acts like he had something stiff shoved up somewhere in DAD. His first performance was his best, unlike Moore and Connery.

But I thought of one thing:

Isn't it about time Bond gets laid at the end of it???!!!:007)

Appararntly its going to be a follow on but Babs is not going to use any Bourne influnces , instead they are going to use Salt as their main influnce and DC is going to spend the wholemovie dressed like Jolie did in the movie and its about Bonds inner turmoil as a crossdresser Property of a Lady is a bit to obvious so how about Him to Her for the title.[This is all just a joke Blacklieter].

Stand alone.Sequels have a way of becoming stale no matter how talented the actors and how brilliant the script is.

i'd rather it be a stand alone movie. there's only so much of the same storyline and general plot that you can keep before you start to lose interest.

EON seems to be implying it will go the classic standalone route next so that Craig has a take at a "normal" Bond movie. I look forward to that and I hope they go that way, despite my deep love for Casino Royale and lesser but still love for Quantum of Solace.

I'm hoping for another sequal, getting to see the head of quantum and Bond getting revenge for vesper. Hopefully Mr White will also return. For a final shoot out with Bond. :007)
