I couldn't find any thread that covered this, so I took it upon me to do it. If this thread is redundant, shame on me
It is debateable if it's wise to be active on a thread like this, since it's best to watch the movie without knowing too much beforehand. But we are both fans and curious, so sometimes it can't be helped.

I have read a rumour that the plot involves a spy satelite crashing and the race to recover it. Is this true? If so it seems a bit strange. Back in the early cold war the spy satelites dropped canisteres with the pictures to the surface of the earth. If one of those landed in the wrong place it could be interesting. But nowadays the intel is transfered digitally much like downloading porn from a mainframe in Russia :v , so the satelite itself isn't very interesting in terms of the intel it gathers. Perhaps the tecnology used in the satelite is so advanced it is of interest?

I have not heard anything about the plot, but if so, we may recall that DAD also has a satellite

All I have read is that it involves M's past comming back to haunt her. Maybe the satallite took pics of her sleeping with a communist during the cold war and now it has crashed to earth she wants to stop them getting out. This would get round Number24's digital image problem.

Im trying not to read to much plot wise, I want it to be a surprise.

Now this is just a wide guess, On seeing some of the recent photos we can take a stab at.

M and Tanner standing by 8 coffins and Bond ( In a couple of photos ) having his head bandaged
and his face cut and bruised.
I'd say we're going to have a Big explosion near the start of the movie Killing all the other 00's
( DanielCraig007's suggestion ) Leaving Bond as the Only experienced 00 to tackle the Job and
Perhaps having Eve as a Side kick ( young agent, with not much experience ) Helping him out.
which doesn't bode well for her character as these types usually get killed in the movie.

From the rumours your saying it sounds like a mix between crocodile hunter and johnny english! sounds awful. Johnny English as there is an explosion andhe's the only one left, crocodile hunter is a sattelite crashes and there is a race to find it.

If the scene on the clapper board is any indication, this scene comes in early (scene 35). Union Jack draped coffins, I've read 8. Could this be the result of the Attack on MI6? Could this come right after the Pre-Titles, similar to Kings funeral in TWINE (after on attack on MI6).

I'm wondering if Scenes 45, 59A and V64BA are all at the same place, perhaps a nightclub. Is Bond at the nightclub? Well, with the shot of Martini glasses I'm lead to believe Bond is at the "Club". Maybe more teaser shots will come out.

Scene 53G appears to be a lone desk in drab building. Maybe Temporary Headquarters of MI6. Could MI6 be damaged so bad everyone who survived is pushed to a drab building?

Finally, scene 134. Outside in an alley. Not sure how early this comes in the picture or how late. It's kind of fun to pick apart these teaser pics.

I have some other things to figure out to, like certain roles. Mainly, Helen McCrory. Her role on IMDB says she's playing Clair Dowar. We also know that Javier Bardem arrived in London a short time ago. IMDB has no name for his villain role. Could it be possible the Claire Dowar is a girlfriend to Javiers villain? Maybe a husband and wife Villain team? Javier and Helen are about a year apart in age (of course, Daniel is the same age to) Maybe Helene is the "Bond Girl?"

I wonder now that Javier is in London, if certain plot details will start to come out. Like, what Javiers name is in the picture. Also, a hint as to what the villains plan is (i.e. World Domination? Corner the Oil Market? Be the king of bottled Tap Water?). I'd like to know a little, but not too much.

Wasn`t the PTS to be set in Turkey, or is my memory malfunctioning again? Perhaps Bond comes in contact with Bardiem`s organisation in the PTS and creates some problemsfor them. Then Bardiem retaliates by bombing MI6 HQ? Obiously M has done something questionable in the past, perhaps ths comes to light in an inquiery after the attack?

If the satelite rumour is correct, China might have a role. China has shown the ability and will to shoot down satelites during the past few years. Perhaps that`s what happens?

I agree the coffins are probably linked to an attack on MI6 HQ. It is interesting that there are eight coffins. Presumably there are nine double-O agents at any given time, but it is a leap to say that the dead are all the double O save 007. Would eight out of nine agents even be in England at the same time? Still, the idea is very interesting and not completely unlikely. Perhaps a bit too close to Jonny English, but possible.

They could of been all together to sign M's leaving Card, and Bond was late as he had to get bring the box of Chocs. )
Although with an Operation name "SkyFall" you'd expect something Big to off happened.

Many plot points have been used before -- the idea of trying to recover a satellite with compromising secret film is at the center of Ice Station Zebra, and the "wiped out department" idea is a part of Lethal Weapon.

From what we have so far the plot could easily be that someone decides to go after the whole 00 section on the pretense of going after M -- if Ralph Fiennes is the villain (Blofeld) and a government official, then it makes sense he sets into motion an internecine plan. Perhaps the satellite ultimately has the proof of who is behind it all, and that is why Bond must race against Fiennes to recover it. The 00s might all be killed at the same time but by different assassins, with Bardem being the assassin who comes after Bond -- perhaps in the hotel swimming pool scene -- but fails and becomes the first "clue" in the case.

BTW, someone killing off the secret agents was part of the plot for Dean Martin's Murderer's Row.

Chances are, M and the rest of the team have to go "rogue" for a bit, operating out of a makeshift headquarters while Fiennes' people, now in control of the secret service, hunt them down.

...and the spy team going rogue is the plot of every Mission Impossible movie ever made. You are right. Writing an origional spy movie plot is very hard.

Since London and politics are given some time in Skyfall, will we see Guy Haines again? Guy Haines is a key player in both British politics and Quantum, so it seems like the obvious thing to do.

A good theory, I think. Much better than the one about Fiennes being Blofeld. But wasn`t there a third theory about Fiennes being the next ?

We have to remember that Paul Ritter plays Guy Haines in QoS. Of cource this doesn`t prove your theory wrong, the Bond series has more than its fair share of different actors playing the same character in different films. If they decided to make Guy Haines a major character while writing Skyfalll, they may have decided to recast the part to a much better known actor.

Hmm would be surprised if this character was in Skyfall considering it has been confirmed that it will be a new adventure and not part of the CR QoS story

Another story about skyfall, seems the crew have upset some people by being a little insensitive.
And explaines the eight Coffins.

London, Jan 23 (ANI): Sam Mendes, the director of next James Bond flick Skyfall, is being condemned for including scenes of military funeral repatriations apparently inspired by a town in England, Royal Wootton Bassett.

The scenes, which feature the bodies of eight servicemen killed overseas being repatriated and driven in a funeral cortege past hundreds of mourners lining the streets, worry the Royal British Legion, the Telegraph reported.

“The last thing we want is a glitzy film,” said Royal Wootton Bassett spokesman.

“Attending the repatriations started as a pure and simple tribute. How are the mothers and fathers of the fallen soldiers going to feel when they see this on the big screen? It is cashing in on people’s grief and is just cynical.”

James Gray, the MP whose North Wiltshire constituency includes Royal Wootton Bassett, asserted that the scenes have been inspired by the town.

“Prior to the Iraq war, soldiers were buried in the countries where they fell,” he said.

“When the repatriations started passing through Wootton Bassett is when great crowds began to attend.”

Roger Smith, a funeral director brought in to participate in the scenes, said that he was shocked by the filmmakers’ ignorance.

“The annoying thing was that the directors didn’t seem aware of the protocol for English funerals,” he said.

“They wanted to do a Wootton Bassett-type scene, but had no master of ceremonies in front of the cortege to give the right speed. It was a real shame, a missed opportunity,” Smith added. (ANI)

A thought: Sam Mendes likely has no interest in keeping some other filmmakers' pre-set feel and tone, and Eon haven't been sticklers for continuity, with the series sometimes shifting directions wildly between films. Seeing what we have of Craig's appearance so far, and the suit looking much more pedestrian (to these eyes; I'm no expert there), I wonder if Craig and Mendes are retooling Craig's Bond mid-run, creating their own vision of Bond (despite all the classic title-dropping being done by Wilson).

If I'm even half-right, I have to say it could be exciting. In 20 years' time, we'll look back on the Craig run as the "Daniel Craig Experiment", a period in which they never fell back onto formula and, for better or worse, tried something new and different in every film. There's no shame in that, and as Bond will outlive us all anyway, it's fun to be around for the phase where they mixed it up a bit.
